Nice one Hawk.

Decided to knock up another Mig29 ...

When I bought the G&G kit - I traced the parts onto 3mm Depron for later use.

So out with the 6mm. Traced out and cut. Fuselage is 3 laminations of 6mm instead of the two G&G Foamboard. I just thinned down where slots and tabs are.
Wing and surfaces are single 6mm with 2mm CF rods.

2826 2200kv + 6x6 prop.
3S 2200
3 x 9gr MG servos - elevons and rudders. I did not add ailerons this time as I think they are not needed.

Just wait weather now ...

Oh, what the heck....

It's the "Avenger" - built from modified plans of a glow model designed by Roy Looyenga and originally published in the December 1981 issue of RCM magazine.

Since my better half is an Air Force veteran, I decided to give her a 'promotion' and her own plane, complete with her call sign.

Durafly Hyperbipe. I owned one when they first came out a few years back but it was a bit too hot for me at the time and I proceeded to beat it into submission. I had fantastic days with it but in the end it wound up in the trash. I always said I wanted another one so when I did a little side work a couple of weeks back I split the money with my wife and purchased a 2nd Hyperbipe with some of my left over portion and it's currently in process of being assembled.

Attached is my first one before it turned to scrap.

Latest addition to the hangar. I'm starting to like the "snappiness" of the 48" models. They can really rotate quickly. This MXS EXP has some insane surface throws built into it. More than the 48" Laser, Edge, Yak or 3DHS Extra 300 SHP. With no adjustment, the elevator is hitting 85deg either direction with essentially no hinge gap. The Hstab is located a couple inches further forward than on the above mentioned models allowing roughly 60deg rudder deflections. Ailerons are still single beveled to around 40deg but I extended and sealed the hinges (all DuBro nylon) to attain about 50deg.
Yeah, yeah... many will state that these deflections serve only as airbrakes but with 4Kg digital servos I'm foreseeing this being my most violent aerobatic plane yet! Plus I think this is one of the best looking covering schemes aside from the printed ones.

Carbon Cub from Hobby Zone, BNF version as I have DXe TX 6 channel. Flaps now operable and maiden flight was fun with no issues. No report on auto land or other GPS related features as were not used.

Update 1/30:
Had the field to myself this evening, flew 3 batteries 8 mins each and finished with 3.9 V per cell 3S 1300 mah. Beginner Mode was great way to start and up until today, I only used Intermediate mode up high to practice trimming and simple maneuvers, with the occasional moment of fright dumb thumbs and back to Beginner Mode to recover.
As luck would have it, I accidentally took off on the first flight in Intermediate Mode and was downwind when I figured it out and thought, "what the hell, pay attention and be ready to switch modes, but let's try the pattern and some landings."
It came home in one piece none the worse for wear, couple stalls about 1-2feet abouve the runway, but had a blast.

Taking a walk through the neighborhood recently, we walk by a garage sale and in the garage are a few planes. I strike up a conversation, ask him about why I haven't seen him at the club field (closest to us) and he tells me a story of recently moving in, only to get reassigned someplace else, and he's going where there will be no flying for a LOOOONG time. I look at the prices and am stoked.. Bought this Hangar 9 P-51 ALL UP (even had a Spektrum RX I could bind to) for $60

15 minutes with it, install my 5 cell battery, and Presto! Off I go!

I really loved my Royal P51 I had many years ago ... shame when Rx battery pack failed and she piled into hard runway ...

Phoenix Models 90" J-3 all done and flying. Power is an AXI 5320/18 turning a 16 x 10 prop with a 4200 mah 6S lipo for juice. A stand off scale plane wit a few oddities but all in all nicely made. I cobbled the engine and tail braces for a bit of detail.Odd scale size at bigger than 1/5th but not as big as 1/4. A tad on the heavy side too but she flies all right. The pliot was painted yellow and didn't get used.

The only problem is I cant find the cowl anywhere.

If anyone has ideas on custom make one. I thought about an empty plastic container and mold it.

Flies very nice, it needs to be 5mph or less to enjoy it.

Got a Flite Test Simple Cub Short Kit for Christmas last year (had to get it myself, no one else would). Now, 4 months later, I'm getting around to building the Cub. A "C" power pack kit will be powering this plane with a 1000mAh 3s 50c LiPo battery. Also, a build along video with Josh Bixsler instead of a paper set of plans to build over and paper build booklet .
