Slow Stick & Spektrum DX7
#4

I have mine setup up straight up. no expo, no low rates, etc.
Just make sure the channels are set to the correct orientation and use the aileron channel for the rudder and you'll be all set.

Ok, leaving everything set up as default besides changing the reversing of the two servo's " rudder / elevator" where needed. Couldn't I put the rudder servo in the rudder location of the spektrum receiver? This way , I would control the throttle with the left stick and also the rudder. Then the right stick would only control the elevator? Would like it to be somewhat similiar to flying the heli to some extent.
Thanks

You could put the servo for the rudder in that way if you like. However the conventional installation for planks is directional control (right/left turns) to be on the right stick. Rudder if three channel Ailerons if four channel.

The general consensus is your primary turning input stick is the rt stick, with the elevator.
Since an R/E/T plane has only one turning authority, being the rudder, it is usually put on the rt stick. On a plane using A/R/E/T, the ailerons are the primary turning authority, and are on the rt stick, with the rudder (secondary turning authority) being on the left stick.
Of course, this is on Mode II setups, used in the United States. The opposite would hold true for Mode I setups used in other countries.
Hope this helps.

As others have indicated - you generally but the primary turn control on the right stick.
That said - coming from heli world where you know how to use the rudder
you can put it wherever you want.
One thing you might want to consider is mixing aileron to rudder 100% and then both sticks will control it. You will want to practice using the right stick only also..... That will help you down the line for ailerons.
I always do this on my rudder only ships (although I always connect primary turn to right stick) - that way when on landing when my natural reaction is to use rudder - it is mixed with my aileron control and all works well.
