The Slow Stick Chronicles
#26

Great idea, with the Chronicles. Do keep us informed. I plan on making more (possibly removing some) modifications to my SS. I wasn't all that happy with the way the plane performed. It's too heavy and underpowered, IMHO, and the fault lies with me. I did win the combat session however, I was the only SS to cut a streamer.......my own.....in a very tight inside loop!

Well, at least I had one of the better looking SS's our there, in my humble and biased opinion.
Think I might move the Lipo pack more forward, to the top side of the fuselage stick. Tail heavyness was the real problem, and I didn't want to move the wing that far back to get a 4-1/2" CG. The relocation of the servos's may have also added to the problem, but then again I wanted the control rods to be deflection free. Live and learn, I haven't given up yet, just spoiled on Elfi's, PTM's, souped up Speedy 400's, etc.

AUW is 48.5oz with the 3200 3S 30C battery on board. Previous heaviest flown was 44oz. Total power is 560W so that works out to 185W/lb and anything over 150W/lb wings are unnecessary.
Wing loading will be just under 14oz/sq ft so it should fly fine. Reinforced tail feathers on this one with flat carbon as well as my usual wing reinforcing. BTW the yellow square on the rudder in the rear view is not yellow but a reflection from the elevator in the metallic trim on the rudder.
Hope the wings stay on!

Just ran a static test at just over 1/2 throttle and all I'll say is OMG!!! There is no vibration at all which is primarily why I ran the test. Looks like we may have a flight window by the first of the week but the weather reporting here really sucks! Changes every 4 hours or so.
Flight Video a must! More Later.................

Still haven't flown the 4 motored but flew the Low Wing and it flew great. Dave at RadicalRC has come up with a new kit or Erector Set.
Here is a pic of the next project. Ordered the parts yesterday. Control is by canard/rudder AND WING WARPING!

Looks like a nightmare to put together but a really neat idea...it would for sure be a one of a kind at the field. Please share photos when you start putting yours together.

Sure just hook them up together coming out of the ESC. With a brushed motor you can get by using one ESC for the 2 motors as long as it's large enough to handle the total amp draw of the motors.

wow. I tought you were a slowstick killer, and that quad motor did it in for me, but wait, then I had to see the wright flyer SS. I will never see a slowstick the same way again. LOL. I might try this with the phase 3 ef-16 fan and motor placed above the wing in the center of it.
