Hello sufer dude, I was looking through the different countries of ebay looking for plans and found a CD of plans for a Cox powered pylon racer for about $5USD+shipping, has landing gear, might be good enough to convert to EP.
http://cgi.ebay.com/1-2-Scale-Racing...item45efb55fed.
I hope to get my motor and battery for my racer so I can start on the fuselage.
Lookin' good, Sky Sharkster!

Hello Dave,
Sorry, I don't have much news. I've tried to fit my 1800 mAH LiPos behind the motor and ESC, there's not much room there! I'll have to check the Paul Daniels thread on RCG to see how others made the brushless LiPo modification.
I did order a couple of 1500 mAH 20C LiPos, they are slightly shorter. Problem is, that's only 30 amps available for a system that will pull 20 + amps, based on my wattmeter readings.
I put a final topcoat on the wing and now the tissue blends in with the airfoil pretty well.
I'll post here as soon as it's finished,
Ron

Last time I was at the hobby store I was taking to the owner's son ,he flies 3D heli competitions . He was showing me his new electric heli, I can't remember the name but his problem was the size of his battery.
The battery is about a foot long and cost about $300. If he has a crash and damages the front of the battery he has too throw away the battery.
He had the idea of using two smaller batteries that equal the same size, if damaged the front battery he could replace it. The smaller battery is cheaper.
Could you get 2 smaller batteries ,end to end and wire them parallel

Hi Huffy,
I honestly don't know if that would work, but I'll look into it. I'd need (2) 3 cell LiPos of about 1000 mAH each, both 20-25c rated.
But once I get the 1500mAH 20C's, I'll see how they fit.

Hi Huffy,
I'm on backorder for a couple of 25c 1500 3S LiPos. The Slipso is on hold while I work on a Warbird for the "Scratch Builders" contest. Will post here when I get the batteries.

Well, I received my my 30C 1500mAH LiPos from HeadsUp Rc, after being put on backorder from another vendor, I tried HURC and got the packs in about 3 days! That's what I call service.

I'll still use the other ones when they come in, 3S 1500's are a handy size, smaller and lighter than 1800's. The 1500's are 80mm long, the 1800's are 100.5mm long. Weights are;
1800 3S 20C= 185 gr, 6.5 oz.
1500 3S 30C= 127 gr, 4.4 oz.
Here's a photo of the new packs and my Cellpro 4S charger with FMA's 12v wall adaptor.

Now, when I get the time, I'll finish the Slipso!

Hello Old Tin Man,
The Slipso is pretty much finished, but family obligations and work have kept me from any building for the last several weeks. I just about have time to get on Wattflyer!
Next I have to shorten the ESC/motor wires, it won't fit length-wise and the connectors are in the wrong place to fold it.
Hope to get back to building soon, good luck with your model. It's a fun build.

I have been looking for an 1 1/4" spinner for the Slipso and am having a hard time finding one. What have you folks been using?
I am going to try and use one of my 450 heli motors for the plane. Its 28 mm dia and turns 2200 KV, about 425 watts if my memory is correct. Maybe just a little low on the KV but A 5x5 prop should be a good starting point.

Last year I tried to order one of these from Cermark for my Slipso build (which is incomplete) and they backordered it. Repeated queries over months never resulted in it being shipped and they eventually became unresponsive. At 35 mm (about 1-3/8") it's a little bigger than the 1-1/4" (about 32mm) you said you're looking for. It's also a little bigger than the 30 mm one I have which looks too small to me and would result in very thing balsa structure at the nose of the plane if I sanded it down to match. You might try giving them a call to see if they ever got any in stock. Good luck! And please let me know what you find!
Dubro sells plastic 32mm electric spinners. They come with a 3mm motor shaft collet. You can buy a 3.17mm (1/8") collet separately if that's what you need. I'm a little concerned about using a plastic collet at the power level and RPM you'd be running on the Slipso. It might be OK, I just don't know.
