Avistar Glow to Electric conversion Help
#29

If someone is planning or doing this conversion don't be afraid to add any weight to the nose of this plane because the previous one i did was tail heavy with the battery all the way forward. I think the electric motor and battery is lighter than the glow engine and fuel tank.

But the battery is a large part of the weight and is behind the firewall instead of in front of it.
Chop the original firewall out, move it forward so the motor does not need standoffs.
Then you can place the battery far enough forward that you can balance the plane without "dead lead"
Might need to go up on battery capacity... but that's useful weight and total weight will be less than leaving the firewall in the original location and having to bolt lead to the front of the firewall.
