Yup he was a great member he and I had shared emails. I sent him a award one time for the slowest builder. He and I entered one of Chellies build neither of us made our plane in time. I finished before him that's when I sent him a email with the Worlds Slowest Builder. He sent me a pic with it hanging in his room said it brought a smile to his face when he looked at it.
Steve I will let Don know so we can give him his wings. He will be missed.

truly will be missed....a builder to the very end. a good friend to all here at watt flyer.
i just reread SJ's last pm to me. he was going to build an uproar from tower hobby he bought for his bday. he said his wife of 22 years gave him the blessing to build it even thought there were other projects going on. my prayers going out to her and his family.

Wow... I'm very sorry to hear this. SJ and I just last Nov traded plane kits and he sent me a copy of his Sleek Twin plans. I knew he was battling some health issues, but at that time he seemed to be getting better.
His sleek twin design really spoke to me... Now I know I'll build one. Of course it will be named "Standing By, SJ"

John was my flyin bud. We spent many hours out at the flyin field. I don't believe I have ever met anyone who loved model airplanes more than I do.
John was a builder. Sometimes I think that is what kept him going. John loved his airplanes but he loved his grandkids even more. He will be missed by them and his wife Mary. I know I will surely miss him. He was not just another flyin bud, John was my friend

About a year and a half ago John asked me to take care of and sell his model airplane worldly possessions with the proceeds going to his wife/widow Mary . I am still sorting through them. John, like a lot of us, had an eye for valuable airplane Treasures
