Wattflyer Scratchbuild Contest Number 2 Voting
#1

This is the voting thread for the Wattflyer Scratchbuild Contest Number 2.
There are five categories in the contest, so be sure to vote in each category. All the threads did not contain an inflight video, so those threads are not eligible for in the Best Flying Category.
The Contest rules are posted below for your review.
WattFlyer Scratchbuild Contest Number Two Guidelines
General Rules
1. The build must be your own design or be a modification of existing plans (such as changing tail surfaces, modifying the fuselage, adding ailerons, increasing or decreasing the size, etc). No kits or short kits are allowed. There are no specific design requirements, so, let your imagination run free.
2. The build must start on September 1, 2008 or after. The only exceptions will be those who have very recently started a build and the majority of the build will be completed during the specific contest period. A photo of the starting point in the build must be included in the build thread. The starting photo must be posted in the build thread by September 12, 2008.
3. The build must be completed by December 31, 2008.
4. Multiple entries will be allowed but a build thread must be created for each build. Links to each build thread will be entered in this thread. Before judging, all comments not posted by the builder will be removed from the build thread.
5. Build materials will be balsa, foam or a combination of both.
6. Power system will, of course, be electric but other than that, it is builder’s choice.
7. Planes entered will be required to fly successfully. Proof that your design is capable of flying will consist of an in-flight photo or video, posted in your build thread. If you are not able to provide proof that your design is able to fly, your entry will be disqualified.
8. Voting will be held from January 1, 2009 to January 14, 2009. Each entry can receive votes in the following categories:
Best Looking
Best Flying
Most Homely
Most creative design
Best build thread
Each person voting will get to vote once in each category, for a total of 5 votes. The votes may be spread over 5 different builds. The build with the most total votes will be the overall winner.
If you are not able to provide a flying video, you won’t be able to receive any votes in the Best Flying category. This is sort of a bonus category to earn an extra vote for making the effort to post a video of your creation in flight.
Now lets get building.
The prize the winner of the contest will receive will be the Mercury Adhesives Caddy filled with Mercury Adhesives, made right here in the USA. These are great quality CA's and we can thank Atlanta Hobby for donating this prize.
Here are the entries with the links to their Build Threads. Please carefully review the threads and vote in each category.
Voting begins on January 11, 2009 and ends on January 26, 2009 at midnight.

I agree, it's gonna be tough. I gotta get some paper to take notes. Nice work Jim! I know how difficult it can be to herd all the cats in to make it work.
Looking forward to picking my favorites.

Naw..it was easy. Blew through it in 20 mins or so. Lots of good planes but a couple for each category that really stand out. Either
or
.
Great job to all of you!
Maybe someday I'll be able to participate.

Great job to all of you!

I can't get over how many excellent builds there were in the competition. Everybody deserves a round of applause for some really nice planes.
And a big thanks to Jim for putting all this together and doing all the work, you did a great job.

I finally hit on a way to do come to a decision.
I picked the first catagory, then went to the first thread opened it up in a new window and looked it over.
It was now in first place in that catagory.
Then I went to the next thread and opened it in its own window and looked it over. If it was better, IT was now the winner. I closed out the first thread and left the second one in its seperate window on the computer and moved to the next.
By the time Id been thru all the threads the one left on the page was the winner.
Do that for each catagory and your all done.
It was hard to decide in several cases though. So many great entries!

If the numbers don't change too much, it looks like Rick Avery is going to take it even without any best flying plane points/votes.
I wonder who voted for his plane as being "most homely?"
