I have a Hitec Laser 6 transmitter on 72mhz, a companion Hitec Electron 6 receiver, and Hitec servos. I want to replace the Hitec receiver with a Berg 7P receiver for extra noise immunity and put the Hitec receiver crystal in it, would this work?
And, are the servo connections the same?
Thanks,
Dick

17. I have heard that I can use GWS/Cirrus/etc. crystals with my Berg receiver. Is this true? What are the potential problems with using another brand of crystal?
We STRONGLY recommend you use a Berg crystal with your Berg receiver. The tolerances of our crystals are 5 parts per million or better, and are the highest tolerance crystal in the r/c industry. Essentially, using another brand crystal can compromise the performance of the Berg. Using a non-Berg crystal also voids your warranty.

Servos fine, crystal, not a chance ! As well as being the wrong general specification the Hitec crystal is dual conversion, the Berg receiver is single conversion. They operate on completely different internal frequencies

Thanks for the replies. So, if I buy a Berg 7P receiver with a Berg crystal (for my channel) it will work with my Hitec laser 6 tx. Is that correct?
Thanks for the offer Mike but I'll just buy the xtal along with the receiver.

Hello Dick,
Good advice from everyone. It's always best to stick to the same brand, shift and conversion of Rx and crystals.
If you haven't ordered the crystal yet, I suggest ordering two or three on the same channel as your transmitter. It's a lot easier to obtain Rx's (without a crystal) then crystals in a certain channel. If you decide to get another Berg, you'll already have the crystal.
