Hi Fatcat1, I'm surprised you think yours is tail heavy because I had to cut foam out of the battery tray to get mine to be less nose heavy, and I've heard others say theirs is nose heavy by default as well. At first I tried 3S2200, 2500, even 1250 batteries placed up against the rear foam block and I just couldn't get respectable hovers, torque rolls or knife edges - the nose would always drop as I reduced power to avoid climbing. Landing was also tricky, as I had to maintain almost 20% power to keep from stalling forward.

What I did was lift the receiver out of its rear compartment and cut away all the foam between it and the battery tray, basically extending the battery slot all the way back. Finally I glued and tacked a strip of velco back there to help hold the battery, and now I can use 3S2200 batteries and still enjoy pretty good CG characteristics all around.

Hi Louis, I'm afraid I haven't measured my CG and I'm too lazy to pull it out of the garage (it's raining pretty hard too). I just know that with everything stock, I found the flying characteristics better with a lighter battery at the rear position. I think it's even better with the carved-out tray described above.

I will measure it and post my findings when able though!

Louis that is how mine behaves while in the air as well. Which in turn made me think it was tail heavy as well. for comparison my friend has the Typhoon 1 and it is more nose heavy due to the heavier battery and his actually flies a bit smoother (but has less throttle response and overall power)

'Been flying the 'Phoon a lot lately. My carved out battery slot in the rear of the canopy is working very well, especially with lightweight 3S1250 batteries - the CG is now finally suitable for graceful hovers. I do need to deepen the hole more though - CG is still a little slightly high/up towards the canopy for my taste, and it's really pronounced when I use a 2200mAh battery.

I did remove the SFGs to reduce weight and it overall flies better that way though knife edges are harder to execute. It wants to roll one way or another, but not always in the same direction, so I have to be sensitive with roll corrections during the maneuver. I do recall the SFGs helping with that, but I like the lighter weight more.

Still using the big prop and don't see a reason to switch - It is a 3D plane after all. It's a really good value in a 3D plane and it sits in my car ready to fly almost every day.
