Default Ultrafly Furious 3D help

I have a Furious 3D kit and i need a little guidance on running gear.

i have one of these combos will it be ok for this plane?
https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITE...?idProduct=4854

I was wondering what battery to use. would a 1300mah 2sp lipo be too heavy? (i think its about 75grams) or should I use a 3sp battery?

or would something else be better.

Thanks,

Ben

Ben, I have an Outrage, which is essentially the same size and weight as the Furious. If I read the motor specs correctly, that motor puts out 84 watts maximum. That probably won't be enough for the Furious if you want to do serious 3D with it. It will haul it around but not give you unlimited vertical or extended hovering. I'm running the Ultrafly Frio E/10/10 which is rated at 150 watts maximum and it seems about perfect for the Outrage. As for batteries, I use a 910 mAh 3S LiPo with the Outrage. The 1300 may not be too heavy but you might want 3S power. It can't hurt to try what you have. Good luck. Jim

Thanks Jim. The motors are pretty well priced these days so i might take your advice and look at something in about the 150watt range. Say.. how much flight time do you get from the 910mah?

Thanks again

Ben.

Ben, It (almost) never hurts to have more power than you need. I never time my flights, but I'd guess I get at least 10 minutes before I get tired and bring it down. I've never run into the low voltage warning. Jim

Ben, I have the Furious and love it. I use the Eskay 400 XT ($20) which is a 100 watt motor with a 3 cell 900 mah pack. Prop is 10X3.8 SF.
The most important mod is to truly stabilize the aileron servo. I sandwiched it between two popsicle sticks and bolted them tightly together. Goodbye slop...hello crisp 3D.
This is the plane I use when I want to show off...hover, harrier, etc.
You're gonna love it!

I have an outrage too. I fly mine with a towerpro 2408-21 with a 8x3.8 apc SF prop on a 3 cell 1350 mah battery. It will hover and accelerate vertically and of course all the other tricks in the book.

HAHA I'm Ben too. anyway, getting mine this weekend. it says 25 oz. on the hobby people site though, so I'm going to use a 480 bl, 35 amp esc, and 2100mah lipo. the power should balance out the extra weight right? I havent had luck with bl outrunners. I got a 6 dollar one from heads up that can haul 30 oz. with my setup, yet it can't hover my 10 oz. foamie. I don't know what is amiss...

Here's a previous thread that might shed some light on the ideal setup for your ship.

You can also check out Jeff's Brushless Motor Guide and focus on thrust in ounces and a low Kv with a low-pitch-larger-diamter prop like anything that ends in x4.7 or 3.8.

And as for your setup, benovisoff, I think trying to fly this plane with a 480 and a 2100mAh 3S will be like trying to fly a lead ingot with wings, but I'd be happy to be proved wrong. Please post video of your maiden!

well thats all I got to use. I don't want to trade a 400 and a small lipo because I don't like to down grade, especially for free.... I do have some little thingy motor (generic somethin') and a 1300mah lipo 3s, but will still have that 35 amp heavier esc. I do have a flat foamie that some small stuff is on, but I like that foamie even if I can't even fly it to take the esc and motor and servos off. I only have 12 gram servos too.
