Cool. I have that plane. Nice! I’m loving the 70 and 80mm’s. Still waiting for FW to make a good flying F4 Phantom. The A-10 and A4 are great ( have them both)but we need a F4J !

Bravo Zulu!

Default Newest Bird

I am currently refurbishing an older version of the Freewing (i.e. Ready2Fly) 90mm Yak 130. Although 4 yrs old, she's not in bad condition. Looks like she was put away with incomplete parts and repairs. Thank you Motion RC for a hefty supply of parts.
She needs some TLC and a few parts but, should be flying again after the holidays. I intend to install an 8s system but, will fly her on 6s until I decide which system I want. It's a good winter project but, it will probably be flying before spring.

That plane looks FAST! Don't let FishBonez see this He has an affinity for ducted jets. Hope to see some video or read about your first flight.

Default Combat Gremlins!

Two more. Red one is a kit from RACores. Very nice. Yellow is home built. I swear I tried my best. My electric is competitive (the overpoweredness makes up for the excessive weight) but can only hang out for 7 minutes taking a 4000mAh 6s to 3.6vpc rested. That's a bit expensive when a new nitro can be had for $50. .32 in the red and .46 in the yellow both offering over 11 minutes sustained full throttle. My apologies for the dirty picture. Next up is a fully balsa sheeted .52 version.

I don't have a short temper. I just have a quick reaction to B.S.

F-19? She looks suspiciously like an F-16 to me.
I've heard good things about the way they fly and I know you're going to enjoy burning holes in the sky with her.

Great to see more jet jocks here. RJ, the Big Yak is scha-weet. Lead, I too have the F-16 V2. Since I fly off grass, albeit short grass, the F-16 has not been my favorite . But that’s just me. It gets rave reviews. Fish, the F-16 probably knows I’m aNavy guy

My last 3 have been the FW A-10 Warthog, FW A-4 Skyhawk and the new FW 70mm Red Arrows BAe Hawk T1. Like them all. The A-10 and A4 fly great. Not the fastest but that’s okay. No bad tendencies with either.

The new Hawk with a XRP 2200kv 14b is the fastest by a wide margin of these 3. Faster than my 70mm Yak-130, A4, F-16 and A-10. About equal in speed to FW F5. Hauls the mail ! So what do I do? I ordered the Gooniac mod. A 70mm FMS inrunner combo w12b from Castle RC for the F5. Gonna pimp my ride! Lol. Still have to have 1 or 2 speed demons.

These edf’s from Freewing and now FMS have been coming fast and furious. Hard to keep up. I do wish for a really good flying F4 Phantom. I suspect FW may be working on one. That will be the piece de resistance !

Ironically, for speed, my fastest plane is a Rochobby Voodoo Reno racer modified with a 10x10 prop running on 6S. She’ll easily do 125.

Ok Hawk. Sounds like you have efflux for breakfast.
All of those birds you mentioned are great. The state of the art for EDFs has been raised considerably in the past 3 or 4 yrs and that's all good.
I had an HSD Super Viper for a few months before I lost it in the sun and a mesquite tree ate it. . It was a great flyer. I still have an Dynam Me262 and I love the way they fly. Not the fastest but, very stable and fun. I've modified mine with a "Russian" paint job ....mainly so I can see it. I lost my 2nd one (now on my 3rd) due to the camo factory paint (don't ask me about my first one ). I've wrecked so many EDFs I could open a hobby shop if I had them back. Oh well, the price of recreation is never cheap.
I still have several traditional prop jobs ...mostly gas engines and I enjoy flying those too.
The Yak is my first 90mm jet and I think I'm going to like it. All indications are it's not fast but, it is a fun, very scale, bird. There's quite a thread on this bird over on RC Groups and mucho info and suggestions for mods, etc. I'm looking forward to the first flight.

RT,
You have one of THE best paved runways in the country. What a nice facility. Saw Tom B just bought the A4. You guys should schedule an edf jet jam. I know a whole bunch of guys from around the metroplex who would come.

Your ME-262 adventure sounds like me and the Mig-21. I’ve gone 2 of them now. Eek !

Cheers,

Hawk

Hawk,
So you've been to our field. I'd say it's "one" of the best for sure and it doesn't hurt being in a beautiful setting with the lake, trees, etc. Very peaceful at times. We have a very dedicated volunteer grounds crew who keep the place manicured almost like a golf course.

I've had an EDF fly-in on my mind for some time but, never proposed it to the club. During the best part of flying season we have at least one event every month and sometimes more than one. Some of our members complain that the field is tied up with contests and fly-ins all the time so, I haven't proposed an additional one.
The closest thing we have to a "jet jam" is Tom's electric fly and there were quite a few EDFs there. We held that event about two weeks ago and only 17 pilots showed up. As you probably know, we usually have about twice that many. Fair weather pilots didn't want to brave the strong winds I guess. They sure missed some terrific raffle prizes.

Yeah, I really like the way the 262 flies. Just wish the retracts were more reliable. They are a pain in the neck sometimes.

I may do some research and see how much interest I can generate in holding a contest/fly-in for EDFs and then talk it over with our board.

Impressed with the quality of Motion RC's Freewing planes, I splurged for a Flight Line foamy Spitfire Mk IX. it's a good size and looks pretty close to the right outlines. The landing gear/undercarriage is most impressive with spring and knees and stuff . Plus the gear cycles in correct Spit fashion. 16" 4 bladed prop is neat too. Need to apply the 50 some decals yet and can't wait to put her in the air. R.J. Mitchell would be smiling looking at her.

Great plane. A few at our field. Looks are impressive especially in the air. Plenty of speed and the silhouette of the airframe is fantastic. I’m a huge Motion fan. Have several FW edf’s . In fact sold my F7F TigerCat to help finance the A-10.

Looks like they are getting ready to release the next Flightline model. Speculation is it’s an A1 Skyraider. But only speculation.

Finally pulled the trigger on the one i have been looking at for quite a while.
ExtremeFlight has some pretty good Black Friday sales and free shipping going on right now. Got this for about 79% of what it would have cost otherwise!
