To Panther and Don: thanks for the welcome! I'm sure I'll be learning so much here! And here is a salute to our veterans of all conflicts on Memorial Day; may their sacrifices be not in vain but always honored in our thoughts.

Welcome to Wattflyer, Ruprecht.C. The slow park flyers are the very best way to get started. They give you time to make corrections before they hit the ground. Remember to fly "three mistakes high" meaning be sure to give yourself enough altitude to make those corrections.

There are several WWI biplanes that are good flyers, just stay away from the triplanes for a bit. They can be tricky to fly.

Good flying, Ruprecht.C

Thanks also to mclarkson and Rabbitcreekok too! Your advice on park flyers is well taken; I have two bipes waiting for me as my grandson and I work with a couple of park flyers. Starting at altitude is always a good suggestion, as I learned using Flight Simulator programs on my computer ...crashed many times and ended up at the training field at Meigs Field in Chicago! Thanks again!

Welcome to WF. You will find the group friendly and helpful.

Be sure to take a look at the sticky threads at the top of the beginner section. Some of them appear to be old but the info is still relevant and you can post questions and comments. The answers help to keep the info current.

Hi AEAJR,
Thanks for the reminder - I am going thru the transmitter section things have changed in the past decade: unfamiliar with BNF, PNF and such. I have a few older Futaba radios with crystals, but they still work. It looks like the new ones, like Spectrum, can do everything except tie your shoes! When I decide to get some more quality aircraft, I'll be looking at these newer rigs. thanks again....bob.c

Ruprecht.C

Glad to be of help. If you don't know where else to post questions, start a new discussion in the beginner section.
