Default One of those days

Went to the field on Wednesday with the 300 and the Sukhoi. Was finally going to wet my feet on some light 3D.
Was excited (I guess) so I woke up at 3 in the morning
Got to the field at a little after 7 as usual. Perfect day, no wind, no pesky sun in my eyes, and up went the 300.
I am hoping that it was cogitive dysfunction caused by lack of sleep because I just couldn't fly worth a hoot. Was all over the place, and basically looked like a complete newb, and had the shaky hands to go along with it.
After 3 failed attempts, at least I greased the landing.
Went back to the bench, collected my thoughts, and plugged in a second battery. Up she went, but not much better. Tried to lay her over for a knife edge and spent the next 15-20 seconds chasing it around the sky trying to keep it out of the dirt. Somehow pulled it off.
Knowing that it was not going to be my day I brought it back to the runway, bounced the landing and took out the prop.
Was out of there by 7:50ish and went home.
Mowed the lawn and took a nice long nap
I have had days when my skills were off, but this was rediculous. I'm hoping that I'm not the only one that this has happened to.
I'm just glad that I had sense enough to leave with planes and not pieces.

Been there and done that! I suppose we ave all had those days. I can remember more than one time where I packed it in after just a flight or two thinking I'd save the equipment to fly another day.

One day in particular I remember was at SEFF about 3 years ago when I was flying my Seagull models Shoestring. I took off and the skies weren't too busy even though 300 or so pilots were there. I just couldn't get "un-nervous" with it in the air so I tried to land it. I was getting so crossed up that I kept going around and just couldn't get it slowed down enough to get it down and on the ground. My buddy Laine was next to me spotting for me and could see me getting worse and worse. After the 4th pass I was afraid of hitting LVC and asked him to land it for me. He got it on the ground for me fine and we had a big laugh about it.

I had about 30 flights on it before that day and probably 50 or more after... but that day about ended it all.

Weird how that works

Yep. Some days it's just not happening. Can't explain it but it's true. Best to pack it up and do something else.

Live to fly another day. As birdDog mentioned, for one reason or another, some days it's just not happening. Knowing when to pack it in is a good thing.

I have had those days too. The eyes, brain ,and fingers just don't want to play nicely. Time to pack up, and go home while everything is in one piece.

Yeah, but you have to do 'one more circuit' before you pack up......
