Default hobby shops in Chattanooga

Hey Gang, going down to visit the inlaws and was thinking about brining a parkflyer as they have a lot of open space. Unfortunately, or fortunately, you can not bring a lipo battery on an airliner. So, does anyone know of any good hobby shops in the Chattanooga area?

Thanks

The links to the DOT site that says "thou shalt not over such and such a limit"

I don't see where a small park flyer size lipo would not be allowed in you carry on bag.

Thanks for the reply firemanbill.

Your right! I screwed up the equation in my haste last night. Mind verifying what I came up with the second time? The DOT site says this;

"Equivalent Lithium Content (ELC). ELC is a measure by which lithium ion batteries are classified. 8 grams of equivalent lithium content are equal to about 100 watt-hours. 25 grams of equivalent lithium content are equal to about 300 watt-hours.
You can arrive at the number of watt-hours your battery provides if you know how many milliamp hours and volts your battery provides:
mAh/1000 x V = wh

Most lithium ion batteries marketed to consumers are below 100 watt-hours (8 grams ELC). If you are unsure of the watt-hour rating of your lithium ion battery, contact the manufacturer.

Lithium Ion Batteries with over 25 grams ELC are forbidden in air travel"

So... A Turnigy 3S 1.3 mAh lipo is (1300/1000)*11.1V=14.43, withing the limit.

The stuff from the DOT is new since the beginning of this month. As we all know Lipos can be a hazard, and the scale airplane people movers have recognized this.

Anyone else want to weigh in?

A bit south of Nashville is Hobby-Lobby (Not the craft store.) and they have plenty of Lipos!! Plus planes and other great stuff. Makes a nice days road trip out of Chattanooga.

There is a Hobby Town out at Hamilton Place (10 minutes north on I-24 from Downtown Chattanooga).

If 25g ELC is equivalent to 300Wh.. then you can carry more than a dozen 3s 2000mAh packs (22.2Wh each) and still be under the limit!

Thanks for the reply Dr. Kiwi. We didn't wind up going but I'm sure we'll be down there at some point! In retrospect I don't think I'd try taking an airplane in my luggage, but the little eflite blade coaxial helicopter would be ok
