Default Parkzone Radian nightflyer

Did my first 'night glide' tonight, thanks to 3 meters of HK LED strips.

Thanks. That's actually Spirit Aviation - used to be the main Boeing plant.

Holy cow, Mark, I remember when you were just trying to keep your Radian from cratering! Now your flying has advanced so far beyond beyond me that I no longer qualify to be in the same forum....

Good show!

The Radian at night is the ONLY plane I fly. 160,000 hits on youtube can't bee wrong!

This episode caused major panic. UFO sites across the world were analyzing video caught on someone's iphone, local tv etc. The 2m wingspan makes such a huge signature lit up. Just parked there in a 5mph headwind.

I can't keep from crashing in the daylight. Good job. How do you know if its right side up?

How do you know if its right side up?

Good question. Actually it's not hard. I run all blue LEDs on the top and two different colors on the bottom. This keeps the plane's attude in perspective. Something that flying in the daytime does not give you except if you have a lower wing marked w/ some viynal. I get all I need from those sign shops for free. But that's for daytime, for night time most of the rules are as daytime, like stick to your flight plan, which should be in keeping the plane in front of you, Good about the Radian is that it's the perfect first plane. Did you see my UFO video? It went viral, all because I just "parked" it in a 5 mph head wind while a friend went nuts just below me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAE5EnobP6E

Back to your inquery: Some say that due to the easily identifiable attitude of the plane or "prospective" that night flying is less difficult than day flying. Though I must tell you that the taken for granted safety issues are 10 fold more important, for instance, don't fly anywhere where you may cause an accident. As you may know, when people see these things, they freek. So it's good to fly somewhere else, away from traffic and busy streets.

Hobbypartz has good deals on LEDs, I just bought some orange & purple 36" strings about a dollar more than Hobby King. Try the "gull wing" pattern like I have, it looks like a skeleton up close and like an angel in the air. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwirMel2Igg

I hope this answers your Q. Feel free to ask more.

Best, Doug

I've taken to putting white on the top of my planes, and colors on the bottom. If I see white, I'm looking at the top.

So the bottom of the right wing will be blue, but the top of the right wing will be white, but with a small blue strip at the end.

Nice graphic indeed! Also your LEDs, they look like those that have a clear & smooth little lenz on them. A buddy is running these, they look very aerodynamic.
