Default 12s charger ?

Anybody make a 12s ballance charger ?Would like recomendations from any one who has operated one.I have a 12s 7,400 mah pack I would like to charge at 2c rate.I use three packs and a Plettenberg HP 370BM/A1"s" to make my boat go zoom-zoom on the water.both the Rpm's and the Amps are "Just Right" with this combo. 14s would result in excessive Rpm's so I can't go there.Flight Power ballance taps on everything. a) 5s 7400 b) 5s 7400 c) 2s 7400So I can reconfigure the packs any way needed to charge them up.Right now I charge the 2s pack, then I charge the 10s pack. This takes much longer than I want.Harry</p>

The biggest I've seen is the iCharger 10 series, up to 10S:

The Revolectrix Powerlab 8 is a close second. 1008W of power and charges up to 8S.

As I do not charge big packs, I don't know how the other guys do it. Perhaps parallel adapters or use multiple chargers to charge packs separately?

To charge a 12S 7400 pack at 2C rate would require the following.

12cells x 4.2volts x 15 amps = 756 watts

The only charger that can do that is the PowerLab8 but like Philipa said, it only does 8 cells max.

If your pack is split - 2ea 6s packs with separate connections to each 1/2 - then you could do it using two PowerLab8 chargers.

Hyperion has a new charger due out sometime later this year that, IIRC, should be able to do it but no release date yet.

He's using 3 separate packs:

I use three packs.... a) 5s 7400 b) 5s 7400 c) 2s 7400

OK, I found you a 14S charger!

The Schulze Next-14-350.

http://www.schulze-elektronik-gmbh.de/next2010-e.htm

She ain't cheap, but Schulze apparently makes good chargers.

If you want to balance the cells, either balance the packs after charging OR make up a special harness to attach to the built in balancer.

Dealers:

I couldn't find any US retailers with the Next-14 series, but i-Care RC in Canada has them:

http://www.icare-rc.com/chargers.htm

Prices start at $539 US.

Honestly, having 2 separate chargers is starting to look like a less expensive option!

Both Bantam (e-Station 902) and Hyperion (1210i) are 12S chargeres but use external balancers and the way you have the batteries split, you can't balance them with external balancers. Your best bet is to split the packs into 2 6S packs and get a dual port charger such as the Bantam BC8DX (200 watts per port) or buy multiple chargers.

Didn't even know the Bantam 902 existed as I have not seen it on RCAccessory's website. Not sure where you can purchase these in North America. Here it is on Bantam's website:

http://bantamtek.com/00_eng/02_pro/s...t2=&p_name=902

The Hyperion 1210i is no longer listed on Hyperion's website. But there is a vendor here in Canada that still has some... presumably older product?:

Neither of these chargers have integral cell balancers so you need to use external units. In this case two PB6's for the Bantam charger or two EOSLBA10's for the Hyperion.

The 902 is still a current charger for Bantam, but we do not stock it. www.espritmodel.com and www.gravesrc.com, both here in Florida do have them in stock.

Thanks for the information. I had some trouble finding it myself.

Harry, I have a Show Demo Bantam 902 that I can sell you. For the balancing you will also need 2 x PB6 balancers, I can make sure you get all the adapters you need to make it work.

Best Wishes,

Dan
