Red face Parkzone Radian - Glide (too dark?)

Howdy,

I did some evening gliding and the footage came out really nice. I wanted to share with the rest of you folks.

What are your limits for darkness? I could easily see the plane and had orientation the entire time, but it seemed a tad late.

This one was a bit more dicey, at the end of the video you can see my fire on the beach. I land directly in front of the fire. Again, had orientation the entire flight.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Great videos, thanks for sharing.
Since I only have an hour or two after work to fly I have had the odd flight in failing light, but I keep it pretty low just in case.

However I am planning some sort of LED set up for my bigger planes (inc. my Radian Pro) i.e. red=port, green=starboard and a white LED on the tail... which should give me a lot more confidence in those conditions.

I think I'm going to get this all in one kit

Where I live, during the summer at least, it's light until nearly 11:00 PM. I don't have a lot of excuses for flying near dark, aside from the wind always dies off in the evening, and my flight area is just outside my apt, so it's very convenient to grab and go.

The light kit seems like a great idea. Do you have experience with the one you linked? Looks perfect.

Thanks for the reply!

Hi,

I have no experience with it, but I have already placed an order with HK for one and will see how it goes. Unfortunately it was only yesterday evening that I lost the plane I had in mind to get all LED-ed up (my Eflite Apprentice) so will probably fit the kit to my next trainer style plane, whatever that is.

Cheers

How dark is too dark to fly an unlighted model depends on the pilot's vision and the airplane's colors...

If you have good enough vision to see the plane its fine.

I got the same kit under a different label.
Works fine but I don't consider it good enough for flying in total darkness without adding some more lights.

Hi Natural,

It wasn't so much the topic that caught my eye as much as, well..................your screen name.

So is there such a thing as unnatural vomit?

Couple random words when I created a steam account many moons ago. It's just stuck, and surprisingly enough, it's rarely taken when I register for a userid.

It does bring up a philosophical question though, I'm not an organic, no-gmo, kind of guy, so maybe all my vomit is unnatural.

On that note, I'm going to crack open a Tijuana Mama.

=)

Just picked up the light set linked in the post above. Looking forward to trying them out.

Thanks for all the help!

I do a lot of night flying. Where I live, it can be really windy (and hot) until after the sun goes down. I have several LED-equipped night planes, including my Radian.
