Looks like a good place for me.

I used to be into Glow & Gas big time 20 years ago but gave the hobby away as other interests took over , used to be into the unusual models, & had a fascination with unusual models and Fixed wing VTOL.

And now I'm back just finished building my first ever electric , a scratch builtr 60 sized Fun Fly with a Storch Look , not flown yet just waiting for the wind to die off .

I got to say , eventho Ive not flown it yet , I already see the advantages to Electric , not having to fuel proof everything is a bonus & no clean up - woo hoo !!

Welcome Goingbush, to Wattflyer.

You are so right about the fuel. I was not sorry to give up all my fueling and starting equipment.

Not to mention how eventually, the exhaust oil gathers in all the tiny milks & crannies, eats the covering, rusts out nose-gear struts, and as for me, seems as though I was changing out glow-plugs after EVERY flight. I Fly E.P. or I donít fly.

Hello Wattflyers...

I'm Dirk, live in Flanders (Belgium), aged 60.

Been around in the world of many aircraft related disciplines. RC, glider pilot, motor pilot, building 2 seater A/C,... and back to RC :-)
Did a restart some 10 years ago but refurbishing the house we live in got away with all the hobby money.
Wanna do something special in electric giant scale... but will need help of the masters around here!

Default New Old Guy

Coming up on 77; just getting into R/C; electric only; bought a couple of UMX fliers for two grandkids; decided I needed to have my own "Toys"; currently have Pitts PT 17 BNF; Super Cub S; UMX PT 17(my learning/crashing Plane); and UMX T28 & Sport Cub S for the grandsons.
PT 17 & Sport Cub haven't flown yet: grandkids are amazing with the Sport Cub & T28, but they've been doing mini helos/drones since they were 3; now 17 & 25.

Hello John and welcome to Wattflyer. You are never too old to get into flying RC airplanes. I am a couple of years younger than you and have enjoyed the hobby for many years. As you pointed out, you can share the hobby with your grandkids. If we can get them out of their phones, that is a good thing.

Good morning, I'm Ruprecht.C or bob.c, an obvious night owl as it is 2:12am as I type this! I've been interested in R/C for many years but haven't had enough time to fly planes. Now I'm retired and it's time to play! Slow park flyers are my planes of choice right now; I do like biplanes and am fascinated by WWI aircraft, and autogyros. Ducted fans are fun to watch but I don't have the reflexes to control them! So I am here and also on RCGroups to learn as much as I can.
