it is still a little windy but as the sun was out and it wasn't raining we had to take the chance. as last year was very heavy rain or very windy or just to cold. so 08 was a poor year for flying. and loads of people left the hobby.

I have a dozen or two...The oldest is a Kokam that is 4 years old, it is starting to go flat. I have been really happy with the Commonsenserc products. They are reasonable priced and better quality than most. (I have also used TP packs.

i did a small lipo test today. i had a lipo in a warm room then i looked at the volts in each cell then i moved the pack to a cool room. and each cell had dropped a small amount of V . then i put it back in the warm room and the V went back up. so remember if you charge to 100% and it was in a cool place at the time and then take the lipo into the sunshine. there is a chance of it swelling.

What if capacity also varies slightly with temperature?

there is a good chance of it swelling if taken from cold to a hot place at 100% charge. as for the capacity. you might be able to put more mah into a pack but you would need to keep it cool while it was first being used. and in winter a lipo wont last long in flight so the mah has dropped. i will add that loads of people still treat lipos like nicd and nimh. they turn up at the flying site and put the lipos right in the sun to warm the packs up. this works with the nicd & nimh. but a lipo dont like it.

Since my post # 20, I have bought some more and some of mine are beginning to get weak. I now have 39. 10 of them are Electrifly 3200 mah. All are showing signs of loosing power and get very warm each flight. Most of the 10 were less than a year old. I track when each cell was bought and the number of flights on each. My oldest cells are still going strong.

I have had no problems with the 4 cell 3700 mah Rhinos. They have plenty of power. The 6 cell 4900 mah are for my Robinhood 80 that's not ready to fly yet.
