Default Hobbyzone Super Cub Aerotow

I have a hobbyzone SC and looking for someone who has used it for a tow plane. Wondered what weight of glider it could pull?

I would like to try something RC, if it can pull the weight, with a tow release.

By the way, I have floats on my SC now and low it. GWS

I want to do floats eventually, on my slow stick.

I would give it a try, I am not real familiar with the cub's perfomance, but I would say, if you can't go verticle with the motor you have now, towing might not be an option.

Now, with a motor upgrade. That would make it possible.

With a lipo brushless upgrade it would prolly tow a light glider. My SC has unlimited vert with lipo/BL set up.

Here's a video of someone towing one of those larger foam Supermarket toss gliders. They have mounted the camera on the glider, filming the Super Cub, this may be one of the coolest RC aerial videos I've seen ... kinda like a dogfight in First Person View.

If you got the drop module for the Cub, you could probably rig it as the tow release.

Here's a thread on another board that was started by the pilot in the above video: http://supercubclub.proboards78.com/...ead=1171945702

That was too cool. I had to send a link to my boss. A full scale pilot that is getting interested in my rc stuff.

So much so, he actually asked about how feasable it was to operate a hobby shop...

The Cub definitely won't tow with stock electronics. However, as some have said already, if you upgrade to lipo/bl, you'll have a better chance.

I think that SC is stock. Look at his other videos. Also, you can hear his gearbox whine. MAYBE he's gone LiPo, but I don't think there's other mods.

Ok, I did some research...

I went back to the page, and read through the comments and replys.

He said..

"Fast Forward to 3:35... you don't need brushless power for that.
I have since gone brushless/Lipo with this plane. Unlimited vertical is fun. See my other vids."

What he is referring to, is he does a loop, while towing the plane and camera, all while on a stock SC.
