Awesome, I am building a file for all about building scratch planes now. I do appreciate the advice and help. You're planes are amazing and you turn them out quickly it seems!

There is a fellow in my club that designed an F-14 out of some more expensive foam that the wings actually retract and such. He is only providing me the templates and foam and I will build it and post pics once I start.

For these size of park flyers my top question will be what servos and ESC/MOTOR combo is the best you think? Or I guess if you have a list of one of your planes equipment that would be nice as well.

Keep up the great work Crash I love the planes!

PS - what kind of paint? brush or rattle can krylon?

In my lite weight airframes i use the SG90 servo from headsuprc and the speed controls..22amp brushless esc. And the motors i use are the Emax CF2822 1200kv and most of my planes i use a 10 inch prop.

Crash

PS: Keep um lite

Ok

But guess what? I now have a completed 44"WS 9 3/4" chord wing
with turbulators (?) from LE to TE. Left paper on & done winwax
oil base thing & some painting. The waves are very noticeable!
The wing was formed with a lot of under camber. I think it turned
out to be a strong foam wing?? But what do I know about DTF??

Should it be scrapped??

Maybe this foam building is too much of a new trick for an old dog!

Jimmy

Use doublers on the bottom of the wings creating an airfoil by sanding. Paper off.

Talking about being too old to learn new tricks.
I had never built with Depron until a few days ago. I love it.
In that time I have built 3 planes. I couldn't do it that quick with balsa!!
(I am 67 and been building since primary school days)

Any way I built a little Biplane, then a Nutball, and my Biplane went so well I built another one today. I have already test flown it and it is a gem to fly.
The second Bipe took me 6 hours altogether.

First one has the red stickers and the second one has some left -overs.

Here is the Nutball.

Our indoor flying session last night was a big success and a friend is buying the red Biplane off me as he loved the biplanes so much. (He can't build them anymore. )
All 3 planes performed perfectly. Happy chappy.
Now I'll have to make another one.

I have just about completed my 3rd Firefly bipe. I am hooked on these. They are incredible fun to fly and so docile.

Finished (for now)
Weight is 126 grams and battery is 11 grams. Last one was 3 grams heavier but it has a better, larger Rx in it too.
