I agree Ned, that's what is making this project happen!

If our core group cannot perform as fund managers for the slush fund, then we will be looking for outside help with this also.

You are actually about 60 miles too far east for the planned route right now and we don't have enough pilots in your area to perform a detour from the planned route. But that is right now. Things could change as we still need lots more pilots in the southeast.

Keep an eye out on this map, page 2 and this thread. We might just fill in those holes and it won't be an issue.

I'll add you to my database as a possibility so I won't forget you if we can fill in the holes.

Tonight I'll send an email to the first ten pilots so they can "meet" and start coordinating a plan and meeting place to make the switch.

Getting close to "go time" fellas.

The first 10 pilots have been emailed each other's contact info so they can start making arrangements for the plane transfer.

The excitement is about to begin!

If you are flying through Amarillo, Tx or close to it and need a pilot I'll put my name up.

Dwayne,

I'm sorry to say right now Amarillo is out of our "reach" but we are still a long way off from TX.

Keep an eye on that map and this thread as things might change and we go through your area. Right now it is going through Hobbs and down to Big Spring. I'll add you to my database as a possibility so I won't forget you if we can fill in the holes.

As noted in last week's newsletter, MA wil be running a story on the WAA-08 adventure. I gave the author plenty of information along with pics of the plane, box, and logo along with all the guys helping put this together. I even mentioned RCG and WF. I can't wait to see what gets printed.

The story will be in July's issue of MA.

You heard it here first.

Frank,

Any chance they will do a similar write-up in the Park Pilot mag? This would be perfect for that format.

Pat,

I have been in touch with Troy and have sent him the same info. He said he would like to do a story on the WAA-08 project. We'll have to wait and see.

Hey Paul AKA pilot #2,

Do you want me to bring my SQuiRT up with me so you can give it a go before flying the WAA-08?

Your call.

You know, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. Weather and life have completely sucked up my chances to get out flying lately. I'll have my profile flying then too so I can get that first crash out of the way, lol J/JK

You had mentioned earlier, about this possibly starting before Memorial Day, hows that looking now?

The travel box looks awesome. Steve you did an outstanding job on that!

Paul,

No change on the departure status. I'll have a better estimate next week. I am hoping to and will let the first ten pilots know as soon as I do.

I'll bring my SQuiRT along also when I come up your way.

There was a question about why the large gap in NC pilots on the final leg in another forum so I figured some here might have the same question. That is by design. Scott (ama1437) is going to meet Dan S and me (and possibly Bill) at Kill Devil Hills, NC and fly the WAA-08 plane on the same land that the Wright Brothers flew their plane for the very first time. And then Dan will take the plane back to VA and fly it there also and pass it on.

I didn't know this existed. It might help folks find some pilots to help shorten their drive.

Frank,
That link helped!!
I sent a call for Wisconsin flyers to the WI clubs, noticing a lack of pilots in that State.

Hi Frank Ian from Downunder....just my humble opinion , but to keep the plane moving ASAP I think you'd be better off with a plane that will handle windy days better , something with a symmetrical section and or made from bouncy foam ..like the Multiplex Mini mag or Magister.....just my 2c worth
