Default How to attach camman XP to Pentax s5z ?

Hi, I have built a circuit from rc cam cam man xp, which will allow the xport on my HZ supercub to fire the shutter on a camera. I have aquired a Pentax s5z. Does anyone have a picture of "inside" the camera showing where the 2 wires from the circuit would be soldered on for the shutter switch ?

I have that camera but have not seen one apart. Was there ever a mod for the supercub that could use the IR function instead of a dry contact for the shutter button?

I do not know if there is a IR mod. I take it that if there was, that the prism switch could be used like you have done for your "pole cam" ?

The rc cam site had the mod for an Aptek pencam, which shows clearly were to solder for that unit.

Perhaps I will search for the same type of info for the s5z(or peel the camera apart and try to confirm where the shutter switch mount is), as I would like to try the xp project out that I have now completed.

I used to use a CamManxp on my Aerobird X-treme with an optio A-10. I used a Prism switch with it. It just plugged in and fired when I pressed the X-port button. I also set the Prism switch to fire every few seconds as well without the need to press the button. That worked quite well. You certainly end up with a lot of pics, but not all of them of the chosen subject!

The prism switch plugs into the xport, or the cam manxp wires attach to the prism switch ? I am not familiar with "the prism switch" Where could I read about this?

I assume your CamMan-xp has a female socket like a reciever that a servo can be plugged in to. You plug the Prism switch into that. See Hexpertsystems website.

good...I was hoping that would work. The prism is nice, I use it on the plane and the mast.

Your Pentax should fit in an Altoids tin. See my cam mount photo. My S6 fitted perfectly. The A-10 I used later was a bit of a squash though!

Paul.

I can't seem to upload the photo....?

I'm following the 'manage attachments' directions but as the photo is uploading, the green progress bar shoots all the way across and the attacment box goes blank....

Am I doing something wrong?

Paul.

after the upload button is pushed, the "manage button" needs to be closed, and you will see the attachment in the "additional options"
