Default Shulman Aviation Exhila!

Here's the new Shulman Aviation Exhila. Designed for 3D fun by Jason Shulman, the Exhila can be docile on low rates or on high rates-a high alpha/tumbling 3D machine. The wide stance landing gear and large wheels make grass handling a breeze. In the air the Exhila does everything in the book and then some. The video Blake and I shot has most everything you'd want to ask of a 3D plane and we'll shoot some more for the review. As an ARF, it's almost ridiculous to show the assembly stages as the instruction manual covers everything and most everyone has assembled an ARF these days. All hardware is included and in an evening or 2 you'll have this bird in the air. Designed for use with the new Fury 28/27-1022 brushless outrunner or any similar sized motor and 3s 1300mah+ packs. Futaba 3114's or 3154 servos were flown and both provide excellent control and torque. We'll include some assembly shots as we get the Exhila finished up and ready for the maiden. Here's some basic specs:
Exhila Features:

2 trim schemes to choose from - red/white/purple or orange/white/green
Landing gear and lightweight wheels included
Carbon Fiber triple spar system
Plug in wings for simple transport and storage
Magnetic hatch for easy battery install/removal
All linkages/horns included

Exhila Specifications:

Wingspan: 38" Inches
Length: 41" Inches
Flying Weight: 510-624g (18-22 oz)

Here's some more shots of the Exhila and a little history behind it's development:
History: I went back and looked from when it all started and the first 'production' pics of the original version (flat fuse profile) were dated March of 03. There are still a few of these around, and I even have 4 kits here in my closet. After this run, we were not sure where Shulman Aviation was headed, so we never reordered any of the profile Exhila's.
In 2004 was the first ETOC, and not knowing much about foamies, I figured a foam version of the Exhila would be fine. The 'Guppy' as it was names, flew fine, but the 6mm build didn't lend itself to the slow flight needed in the small gym. But it worked fine and I didn't hit anyone
After a few years, we decided it was time to start doing Shulman Aviation a bit more serious, so in Dec of 06, the drawings for the Exhila came back out and a narrow fuselage was added. In Jan of 07, I flew the first prototype in China and worked on a few other planes.
Now we're in Nov of 08 and we are finally selling them. It was a long wait, but I'm very pleased with how they turned out.
