Default newb needs advice on small motors

hello all, i just ran across this site. my name is charley, and i live in arizona. im 24yo, and just started attending college this semester. i plan on majoring in electrical engineering, but i am still in the basic stuff. now on to what im looking for.

im building a project for my vehicle, and would like to build electronic curtains for the windows. i was thinking a small motor that would pull approximately 2ft string, and when done, hold the string, but the motor be neutral. this would be activated to the door opening, so im thinking the door panel lights.

here is the idea.

1- motor#1
2- end point of string
3-motor#2
~- string

1~~~~2~3
| window \ this is a depiction of the door closed, and 3 has
|_curtain_ _\ activated, while 1 is neutral

so when the door is closed, the curtain should be fully opened, meaning that 3 pulls 2, while 1 is neutral
when the door is opened(set off by door light), 1 will pull 2, and 3 be neutral so that it can unwind.
can someone offer some advice to a newb?
Thanks
Charley

Limit switches with NO/NC contacts. Do you know any ladder diagram logic? You could work it out easier that way.

Although this really has nothing to do with electric aircraft....

lol. im sorry, that was what i was trying to figure out if this was a specific forum to aircraft models.

hmmm... im sorry, im still a newb, going for my engineering, and have yet started this type of stuff.
some more info i forgot to add, what that the motor will be going above the headliner. so spaced is limited.
i was thinking of car model motors. like the motors for hydraulic car models, when activated, the motor will pull a string, and the string is attached to the wheels, therefore, causing the car to 'jump' or hopping. they are fairly small.

btw, that was a fast reply.

scavenge the streets for a few old computers.. all you need is the cd-rom drive.

inside, the cd-rom is all you really need - motors, pulleys, gears, MICROSWITCHES, etc.
