Yes, it sounds like they made choices that kept the product from "taking off' so to speak. Ouch.

I've got two old 'new' Zeros now and haven't had time to get even one flight ready yet. I might as well plan all the details out so I can get it right. Anyone care to recommend a particular brushless motor?

I had a Moutain Models F-22 parkjet that flew great on a 10 gram motor from Hobbyking.

The plane might be a little lighter than a Gravity plane, so maybe something around a 15g motor may work.

Look for a motor that has a kv intended for a reasonable sized prop for the plane. Too high a kv would be for too small a prop.

That makes sense. What KV range sounds good?

There are many motors at Hobbyking,
About 1500 to 2000kv I guess they are a little heavier than 15g but the stock motor weighs 23.05 grams so I would not worry about a little more but don;t get crazy.
Look for one that will swing a prop similar to the stock 4"
Too high a kv and the motor is for a 2" prop, about useless on your plane.
A lower kv would allow you to use a 5-6" prop that would not be bad because you don't have landing gear.

Go to HK they have lots of motors in the Oregon warehouse, about 2 day shipping to Seattle. International warehouse take 2-3 weeks.
Good luck

Ok, sounds like a good plan:

Rudder/elevator/throttle.
Small 1500kv motor.
300 mah three cell battery.
4 inch prop.
