In the newspaper

Well this Wednesday the Flyin will be in the Holdenville Daily News.
Just spent a nice talking to Bob the Editor.
He is planning an article for Wednesday and another before the event. And will be there.
So we are getting some coverage!

Default How about a Candy drop?

Has anyone ever tried rigging a model up to drop candy for kids? The idea was suggested to me and it sounds like a good one!

I don't have anything really suitable for doing it. But maybe someone who plans on coming does?

I have seen that done at a fly in and it was a big hit with the kids.

I've got some servos coming so I'll hopefully have my slow stick set up so that I can do a drop from it. One of the fellows james and I fly with has his set up with a pretty good sized box on it and I can do the same thing on mine.
I don't know yet if Guy is planning to come but if so we can both do candy drops.

Yeah, I don't yet know if I can make it, but I would love to do the candy drop if I'm there.

I may even let someone take my Slow Stick (or perhaps just my drop box) if they know they're going, and promise not to crash it!

The kit with shipping cost about $80, so if I buy $75 worth of tickets, my odds should be pretty good.
I will print the registration form, and send it in with a check for the shirt, and other fees, but if your pre-ordering, I need a shirt size 2XL with screen name "SURFER DUDE"
Thanks!

I cannot get over how well we are doing on donations. In addition to the gift certificates we have SIX confirmed airplanes to give away. Not counting the combat planes and the trainer I am still trying to arrange.

Pretty good for the first try I think!

Will you have to be present to win on the drawing? I will have to come home Saturday afternoon. With a 1 year old and a 4 year old I don't think mama will let me stay gone all weekend.

You do need to be present or have a way to get the prize.
You are not all that far so if you win a plane I am sure one way or another we can get it to you.
I am really trying to not ship. That is an extra expense. And we are super tight on budgets!

Are you kidding me...I can load up the wife and kids and be there in a matter of hours if I win something Sunday. No shipping required .

I can bring it to you if you'd like James. Mama said I could stay all weekend if I wanted.

Sorry to bust in here but Oklahoma in the subject line caught my eye, I'm in Lawton and I guess the nearest hobby shop is OKC for me, or maybe Wichita Falls, anyway would one or several of you guys mind PMing me the name and location of a good Hobby Shop in OKC, one that carries lots of supplies and kits. Thanks

The Realm of Hobbies in Moore carries a lot of items. I was there for the first time two weeks ago and was pleased with their stock.

Default Final meeting before the Fly In

Ok the next meeting is going to be Saturday the 17th at the airport.

We also need to get as many pre orders on the shirts in by the 15th so they can be ready for sure by the Fly In.

We are planning on making 50 shirts and have to have at least half of the money to pay for them to have them made.

So anyone that wants a shirt now is the time! Even those who are not sure if they can make it to the event but want a shirt can order one.

I sent my registration, and a money order for $40. $10 for the shirt, $20 for raffle tickets, and $10 for the landing fee.
By the way, the landing fee is not mentioned on the registration form.
See you then.

Does anyone know of plans for a drop box? I've got some ideas on how to build one, gonna start tonight but some already tried input would be nice. Do you have any plans from yours Guy or did you just build it?
