Chellie, you HAVE to teach me how to make something like that.. if you asked me to build something like that, the wings wouldn't be exactly the same shape, it would have probably been made of some cheapo wood that weighs a tonne... and worst of all it would fly like a rock... a very... very... very big rock

how much did everything cost to build?
I only have a stock Stryker, and $320 in the piggy bank, I'm thinking of buying a cheapo 3D plane because I'm bored of my stryker...
I'm only 13 so I highly doubt my patience =D

Chellie's SQD may be the easiest plane I have ever built Chad, you should try it, it's cheap fun. I'm not sure what the electronics look like in a Stryker but everything should work fine.

if I buy 1 lipo charger, can I use it for life? (meaning, I can use nearly all lipo batterys I buy in the future)

how much is that esc?
how much is the foam board, or what ever material you used?
how much is that small motor?

The lipo will eventually need to be replaced.

Take care of the charger and it should last for a very long time.

Jeff at Heads Up RC has combo's for a good price. You can use the "21" or for a few bucks more get the 2409-12T.

I get my foam board from Wal Mart. It's like $2.50 or something like that. I also use wood dowels from there to tape across the bottom to reinforce it. Not as nice as carbon fibre but cheaper.

Thumbs up You Can Do It Chad

Hi Chad Like Johnson said this is a easy quick build, not to much to it, Foam board that you can buy at walmart, michaels, a craft store, etc. and us a #2 xacto rasor knife and a good metal straight edge, at 13, you should have no problem building this delta, just take your time, when you get yours done, I will race you here is a list of stuff you will need. here is a place where you can get it at real cheap, it comes from hong kong, and the wait is not to long, also use 5 min epoxy for everything, Take care & have fun, Chellie

The Cellpro 4s charger is all you need, will charge up to 4cells, its one of the best on the market for the price, if not the best, take care, Chellie

how would we have a race if I live in Australia?
hmm, a foam board, maybe I could buy a board from Clark Rubber (for any aussies out there)
if I were to buy those servo's, could I use it for many planes to come?
are those servor's compatible with many radios?
hehe, sorry for the newbie question but.. whats a mixer used for? :P
is a 4 cell battery a commonly used battery?
If I were to buy all this stuff, can it be used for future planes?

Everything can be used in other planes. You can use most servos with all the radios.

A mixer combines 2 channels. So the elevons can function as an elevator and still work as ailerons at the same time.

I think 3 cell's are the most common but if you ever want to go bigger or faster being able to charge 4 will be nice. Good luck.

I think you could set it up with a rudder but it's easiest to use elevons. Of course you would need a radio with a mixer. Using the elevons you only need 2 servos.

I tried a rudder on my last delta and it wasn't very effective. As matter of fact it was down right worthless and only added extra weight for no benefit but that doesn't mean it wont work better with other designs.

The foam does not soak up any water at all. I would rub the paper off and dunk it in the water again to help get all the paper off and then just wipe the foam dry. Works great.

FWIW I found if I peeled the paper off as soon as it would start peeling (30minutes to an hour) it worked better for me than soaking it over night. The paper came off in bigger pieces that would peel off.

Hi guys! Hi Chellie!

Long time no see.

How have you guys been?

I have been out of the loop for a while...but I am back now!!! I see there have been alot of great delta projects since last time I was here!

Great news Chellie!!! I have your delta you sent me all fitted with electronics! I gave it its maden yesterday! I crashed it 4 times yesterday! Hehe... I started the repairs with a little rubber cement. It ate away at the foam, so I drilled 4 holes through the balsa at the front and used two strong zipties to hold the CF motor mount on REAL GOOD! It has I crashed 3 more times since and it has held together like a champ!

I love it! It is soooooooo much more fun than I thought it would be!!! I am into it now!!!

K.I.S.S. right Chellie! Man it is so simple and soooo capible!!! It's GREAT!!!

Today, I put on a blue light rope. I can't wait till it gets dark tonight!!! I am so stoked to see how it looks at night! It will be my first night flight!

Can you tell I am excited with all of the !!!!!

Here are some pics I just took!

Looks great, There lots of fun for such a simple design. Its something that can be abused without fear because making another is fast and simple.
Those lights looks great and I can see why you want to try it at night. Best of luck.

Hi jay they are fun huh See If you would GIT out of that mall, and fly more often, you would not be so rusty and crash I am supprised that you crashed at all, those hydros are much harder to fly than this delta is, Its Got to be rust in the control sticks where is your CG at, Play around with the CG, untill you find a sweet spot, 7" to 9" is where most people are having there best luck at, measured from the foam front of the delta, let us know how the night flight went, I like those lights, they are so Neet, Chellie

PS I think i borrowed that design from Kosh, I saw some deltas on Wattflyer and built one, later come to find out that kosh had made this delta first, so i want to make sure to give credit where credit is due, take care, Chellie

Hello, I have a quick delta i built myself, with no plans. It has a wing root of 32 inches and a span of 30 inches. It has no t/e span as the tips end at an angle at the t/e. Where would the cog be.
I followed the link that you provided for Chellie and i got a measurement of 16" from l/e
I will post build pics soon to clarify my my explanation.

Hi here is some info that will help you out with your CG, 30% of the leanght from the nose back, or 1/3 should be a safe place to start, but look over the links first, its always best to be a little nose heavy than tail heavy, take care, Chellie
