Exclamation Time machine! GWS Formosa!

Guys,

I could not believe my eyes when I visited an old friend who was leaving out of state after living here in Orlando, Florida for 30+ years.

I came to his house at Waterford Lakes because he was selling a few models and I did purchase them.
After placing all of them in my car he tells me that I had forgot one and I looked puzzled and said what, when, how?

He brought me back to his garage and handed me a familiar box and one that he said I gave him about 19 years ago and just could not believe it.

The model is one GWS FORMOSA (original) that I indeed gave him long ago and I opened the box and finally recognized the pre-assembly work (my work)!

Well, I now have it again after being stored for 19 years!

I am getting her done! Soon! Wow! What a TIME MACHINE moment!

I may bring back my Snow Cone!

I still have a Formosa ... or as HK called it - Badius.

I originally covered in film ... but soon tired of the look. So I ripped that off and then covered in thin nylon nett and PVA. Quick spray of colours and she's a strong skinned peach ! That Net and PVA is like armour plate.

I also changed from tail-dragger to trike with steerable nose wheel.

I never found it to be as aerobatic as claimed ... knife-edge was difficult to maintain ... but it is a fine flyer to carve up the sky.

I'd have to dig out the old thread on here ... but I think I ended up with 2836 1100kv with 10x5 or 11x5.5 prop on 3S.

I even made the trike suitable to take floats ... but haven't actually tried her on water yet ...

I bought it in 2014 .... its still in good nick apart from the terrible plastic cowl HK supplied with it.

Its not like the original Formosa where it has moulding inside to fit the motor. Its just very thin plastic shell. So I managed to 3D print another ... actually its a Tiger Moth cowl as the 3D Formosa one follows that original idea and my motor will not fit.
