Thanks Everydayflyer. I've got it added to the page. Love the Cartman rebel decal!
Here's my latest airplane. Just maidened last week. I was amazed by the lack of trim needed on it's first flight. It's more than the recommended power but that's the way I like my planes.

Thank you - I fixed it. When I added the last two planes to page 3 I didn't publish it right and blew away the information. The second time I had to add the information I made a few mistakes by mixing up the info.
#205

That reminds me. The AUW weight on my 3D Hobby Shop Extra 300 is incorrect also. I believe you have it at 40 oz. and in fact it is 48 oz. Most likely a typo on my part.
FYI . I stuck a CC Phoenix 60 ESC in my Scorpion powered Stik and gave it a flight with a 5S A123 and APC 11X7E prop. Holy smokes it rocks, 69A . / 12.9 V / 890 watts with peaks past 920 watts.
I have a 3020-14 on order and will see how it does on 5S and perhaps 6S. Some of us are just power crazy fools.
Cartman and I are much alike attitude wise and I have recreated him in many of his character attires. A look at my avaitar(scratch Mini IFO +10% covered in flags) should be enough to indicate that I am indeed a Rebel.

I have seen a few planes listed with the 3008 motors is that a good replacement for the e flite 480? is there one that can run a smaller prop at more rpms for speed?
#207

The Scorpion 3008-28 is similar, but a little hotter than the Park 480. If you look at the comparison chart the Park 480 is equivalent to the 3008-32 which is closer in Kv. The 3008-28 with it's higher Kv is better when you need to run a shorter prop and get a bit more power and speed. I use the 3008-32 in more 3D applications where you ususally want to run a larger slo prop (like my Addiction).

I have a Great Planes Combat Mustang that I just hung a Scorpion on after parting ways with my old Himax and I couldn't be happier.
3020-12
Phoenix 45
APC 10x10E
Hyperion 3s 4000
Berg 4L
2 HS-81 MGs
This thing was the fastest plane on the block with my old motor and is even better now, with the lighter more powerful (and cheaper) Scorpion. It draws 49amps at over 500w stationary WOT. I haven't had it on radar but this thing absolutley rips!!

I purchased a scorpion motor for my Carl Goldberg Piper Cub that I build 20 years ago. It originally had a .40 glow motor on it.
Here are the specs....
Motor: Scorpion Brushless Outrunner 3026-8 1212KV motor producing 1000 watts of power
Prop: 12" x 6" APC E
Speed Controller: Scorpion Commander 70 amp ESC
Batteries: 2 - 11.1V 4000 mah lipo 25C COPPER TAB HECELL
Video of the first flight & landing with the electric set-up.
first flight:
<object height="344" width="425">
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ABsp8hUwD7U&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></object>
and the landing:
<object height="344" width="425">
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5ZNv9nHfEsQ&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></object>
The plane weighs over 7 pounds. Watch how quick the plane takes off. The most amazing part of this is that I can fly for about 45 minutes with my setup before I need to land because of battery. Smooth & quite flyer!
I am a satisfied scorpion motor user....

wow, it doesn't seem to have a power issue, I always loved the Cub. such a pretty and real looking plane. 45 minute, i would be bored to tears flying that long, ha ha. Glad the motor worked out well.

Yea, 45 minutes is a long time..... but, if you think about it, 15 minutes does not give much time to practice scale flying, take off and landings, and then also throw in a few loops & stunts.
Honestly, I fly for 10 or 15 minutes, land, watch others fly, take off, fly, have fun & land and do that all over again and never have to change the batteries..... or wait for some to charge up.....
Pretty convenient.

Are you actually using the two 4000mah lipos in parallel for 8000mah? If so I can see why you get 45 minutes runtime!
Last week I flew my 40 sized trainer for 35 minutes while taking on-board video. I had to pass the controller to someone else for the last 15 minutes of the flight as I couldn't take it anymore. I was sitting in a lounge chair and it was begining to feel a bit like fishing.

Scorpion 3020-14 arived and I mounted it and did some bench test and put seven flights on it using 4S and 5S A123s and 11x7 and 12X8 props.
My guesstimate was spot on. The 3020-14 is a near perfect match for the RimFire 4240/1000. Flys the ElectroStik great however as I am a power freak I put the 3020-12 back on the plane.
For those who like to compare numbers see attachment.
No my number do not match Scorpion Calc and yes there are what seem to be conflicting data. I am at approx. 1300; elevation and temp. yesterday was low 80s F and humity was approx. 90%. A123s hold volts under load better as they warm up and I make several runs from a battery and average the readings. To me peak RPMs, Amps. , watts means nothing except to set limits to prevent motor,ESC or battery from going up in smoke.

Yeah, when I was using the Himax motor I put 6-32 bolts through the cross mount into the blind nuts on the firewall. The mount that came with the Scorpion didn't have large enough holes so out of shear laziness I just kept the old mount. Sharp eye to catch that!!
As far a speed goes the I have not had it on radar or doppler but at the field some experienced flyers estimated 70-90mph (much faster than anything they had). Not bad for 2.5lbs and only 3s. I can't wait to throw in a FP 4s and BEC, I just hope I don't need a CC Px-60, that isn't exactly in the budget right now, but then again none of this has been so far.

Paulding County Model Avation Club had a Fun Fly today. Myself and son Fomiesrfun flew our Scorpion 3020-12 powered GP Electro Sticks in it.
Note I did fly Sig Fazer converted to electric in two of the events and Chris flew an Edge Profile in the Limbo. Total of 8 events flown. 11 contestants in the first round and I belive 6 managed to finish all rounds. No planes were seriously damaged.
All the glow flyers were really impressed by the power of the Scorpion motors . Chris was using a 4S A123 2300 mAh battery and I really blew their minds with mine on a 5S A123. A 20 sec. climb out for the climb and glide and I was in the clouds.
Chris took first place overall and I managed to place third overall. There was not much of a point spread I do not believe.
Man I love Scorpion motors and the great service / support from Innov8tivedesigns and RC Dude

Actually neither the motor or your CC 45A ESC is going to be very happy on a 4-cell lipo with the 10x10 prop you're running. Looks ike the current would be over 55A. You would need to step down to a 10x5 prop which will have a negative effect on your pitch speed (but only pulls 42A). In other words, it may not be worth a new battery and ESC just to end up with about the same performance you have now.
#222

Don't let me talk you out of experimenting. Thats part of the fun.
#223

Sounds like a fun day! Maybe you'll get some glow-coverts.
#224

Climb and glide was great, they all mouths droped when a 6 foot run and stright vertical from take off to the clouds, they all WOW, I said yeah "lets see the glow guys talk about electrics suck now"
HA ha.
They keep telling him he could come on down now, that the contest was over:
