I have tried the Gimp, its true...very hard to use. I'm going to check on those other 2 programs tonight.

What's the short version? I'm not much for video.

Is Paint.net mentioned? It's evil but then again so is Photo Shop, I use Paint Shop.

For there is NO Substitute...

There are plenty that will get you by, but for the real ins and outs of Web Design graphics, image adjustment and rendering, there is nothing else for me.

The price sucks though...

picasa2 is another good one to consider. Free and easy to use. Also manages your photos for you. When I need simple resizing, croping or visual effects, I pull out Picasa. If I am doing more web based or print design, I use photoshop and Fireworks.

If I get mad I use dynamite instead of fireworks. I bought off ebay Microsoft digital Image library 9. It is very good for no more than I paid for it. Can't afford Photoshop! Sigh!
