Hi, Any one know what are the specs for the ParkZone BL400-15T brushless with gearbox , as fitted to their 3d typhoon?
kv, max amps, ect??

thanks, that the problem I had, I found some info on parzone website,
but they list 2 x bl400 with differnt kv but the one fitted to the Typhoon has no lable or details on it

I am not 100%, but I am pretty sure it is the 3700kV version of the park 400. There should be some info about that somewhere.

The owner of my LHS says its 5000kv . Sounds pretty high to me, but I didn't debate it with him since I don't know any better. LOL! Besides, he treats me well so I'll just stay on his good side.

It's not likely 5000kv. Probably either 3700 (15A) or 4200 (18A). I'd guess 3200.
You can get specs of the efilite from here since that's what they likely are or are very similar:

Yeah, it won't be 5000 Kv... Himax makes a motor which (in my opinion) the Park 400 is a direct copy of...

Based on that, my guess is that your motor is a 4100 or 4200 KV motor.

EDIT --> I found this link on Wattflyer. I'm not sure of the source, but it says the motor is 3700 Kv.

Since I didn't want to build a new fire wall mount, I am going to try a few more rpm with the Park 400 4200K inrunner in my Typhoon, as much as I would like to get rid of the gear drive I thought I would try this first.
The stock BL gearbox is 8:1 and with 4200K it should swing a 13-8 all day with out exceeding 30 amps burst. But with the higher Kv I think a 12x8 should perform well. The stock props are 12x8.75 and 13.5x7 and look to be SF with the broad blade width. It's been hard finding a replacement prop that works as well as the stock 12x8.75 in 3D slow performance and vertical climb rate but hopefully with the 4200k the 12x8 should pull well.

Well l have abandoned all that was previously said in my last post!!!
the shaft size on the park 400 is smaller then the OE 400 3700kv motor. so instead of hunting for a 10 tooth gear that would work I just scraped the idea...!!

So this is what I did.....

Went down to the local Hobby People store and found they now have there own new house brand of outrunnners. So I did a little research on witch motor would serve my Typhoon the best and settled on the fact that More Power is almost always better and went with a 2814-06 that spec's out like this..

My Typhoon came equipped with a 30A 35 burst speed cont. from the factory so this motor fits this parameter (no I have not put a watt meter on it)
To mount it I used a 4mm ply wood and built an additional fire wall and used the three mounting screws from the gear drive setup and mounted the new fire wall up to the plastic OE fire wall, I got blind nuts to fit into the plywood that the new motor mount will screw up to using about 5/8" length spacers on 20mm socket head screws threw the motor mount then
threw the spacers and finally into the wood fire wall with blind nuts.

All I had in the way of a prop was a 12x8e and let me tell you it freaking halls arse!! and the vertical climb is limitless not to mention only needing 4 feet of runway...... I will pick up a smaller prop today because it's way to fast for 3D flying, I use only a third of the stick for most all manuvers.
