Default Reno Racer

Hi Everyone I just won this Reno Racer on e Bay, I think it might be a better platform than my wing, my wing has a span of about 35", this plane has a 26" wing span, so I am Thinking less wind drag, I belive the lynx, has a 25" wing span , and I want to use a plane thats not a pusher, That prop screaming in the back, Scares the HECK out of me on 4 cells Tell me what you think about using this plane to go 100+ mph with a Dons Wicked motor and 4 cells, Take care, Chellie

That is a nice kit, just be warned it is a very small plane and tight for space. A 3S1320 is about all you will fit into it.

Ouch! Thats going to be a problem then. Your not going to get much more than 170-200 watts out of that size pack - and then only in short bursts. Gonna be tough to hit 100 with that much power.

What do you think it will do with that size pack Don?

Maybe strap an extra pack or two under the belly as drop tanks!

I still like the looks a lot.

You can probably get about 90-95 fairly easy with it as the model is pretty clean and sleek. The hard part is trying to get the motor into mount it. Not a lot of space!

Thank you Don for the information, I might have to do a little surgery to it, to mount the motor, and to try to get as much batteries in it as possible the plane should be here soon, so I am hopeing that I will have some room to work with, Take care, Chellie

I had a TDL 8 Ball a type of the TDL Racers. I ran a 1320 lipo in there, but it was possible to get a 3s2100. In requires some thinking and making custom mounts, but it is possible. Just mount the aileron servo far enough back on the wing.

LOL that was too funny Chellie!

Mike, the best I could find was about 95mph, but I was having trouble getting a good sound file reading.

I think you had a faster pass but i couldnt get a reading off it.

Had some guys at Hodge's field yesterday flying turbines.

BadBill clocked them with the radar gun at over 200 mph. If I remember correctly, the highest recorded speed was around 236 mph.

I was rather impressed.

Wow, I'd love to see that. I know SEFF is all electric, but do they ever have turbine demonstrations? I'm pretty sure seeing one of those babies will get Dad through an entire year.

And I don't have a video, doppler reading, or radar stat yet, but I just thought I'd let you know ... I'm on my way to add my name to that list.

100mph have to be level flight, or can you bring it by out of a dive?

a little dive is ok just get over 100MPH, how you do it is a ok , get some video and audio, but, I dont think diving from 1000 ft into the ground counts though Take care, Chellie

I doubt it....

but that being said (and this is on topic, sorta..), they hold an annual jet ralley (liquid fuel and electric) every year. This year it is July 19th & 20th.

Check this page for event dates...

Actually, two years ago they had chris True's jet there (I think) QuiQue also flew in the noon demo with a turboprop.. If they have someone that can fly a turbine available, sometimes they will include it just for the crowd...( Even if it isn't electric)
