Default No more retracts

I ran into a continuing string of problems with my factory retracts and my rougher-than-normal grass field. After the second set failed, I retrofit my Mustang for fixed gear. It was a bit of an engineering challenge to mount everything and get the stance right, but I am happy I made the change. No real difference in flying characteristics, but I sure miss the "cool" sight of the retracts doing their thing. I don't miss the sight of my gear folding up on landing!

Chris,

That's too bad as this model is certainly a looker without the gear hanging out while in flight. I would have purchased some stronger retracts "metal" perhaps that pretty much drops in and I would seek a set within Tower Hobby or HobbyPartz and other USA distributors.

I bought a set of RC Lander metal housed retracts for $25 from Electric Jet Factory. Take a look at these.

I have installed and flown the E-Flite .10 electric retracts and can report that they work great. Always work and sturdy. They also have a nice slow extend/retract cycle (not too slow) and they operate independently so that also adds to an increased scale like appearance.

Carlos,
You are a trouble maker.
I've recently discovered your new mustang and have GOT to have one. I'll remove all of my gear from my wrecked WM model and install it in the Airfield model. Everything should work out great. The "kit" version is very reasonable at $99 from Nitro and from what I've been reading on the RCG thread, it's a great flyer.

BTW: I recently finished building the Windrider Dauntless SBD and it's a real looker. I detailed the cockpit with pilot and gunner figures, added some paint for detailing, and installed "ammo" in the twin .30 cal.s . I haven't flown it yet but, that may happen today if the winds are right.

Default Thursday (12-26-2013) Morning RC Flying

I had not flown my Beloved TWM Mustang for over one solid year and you can see for yourselves that on Thursday, (12-26-2013), she came with me to the RC Club and flew majestically and most especially graceful. My model is super LIGHT using the E-Flite 480 (1020Kv) and 3-Cell, 2200mAH, Lithium Polymers with the Hitec Receiver (FM) and my JR XP-7202 FM transmitter.

Here are a few pictures of my model Post Flight from this past Thursday!
