So I've been working on a new project and haven't gotten on here much lately but here she is (so far).

The 1/3rd scale Slingsby Skylark from Peter Goldsmith Designs. it will have a span of 15'8", length 85" weight 12-13lbs. It has rudder, elevator, ailerons, and spoilers. It will be powered by a power 32 motor (no the full scale didn't have a motor) but it will be integrated into the nose cone so the prop can be removed for towed flight.

Pretty good progress so far but a long ways to go still. Don't expect to have her ready til next spring.

Thanks Panther, I've dreamed my whole life of having a shop like this. When we moved here to take this job with the park I fell in love with our place the minute I saw it. Feel so blessed and fortunate to have what I do.

Selling a large property in a couple of years. If I am still alive a new shop is first on the agenda along with a new car and new tractor for this property. And of course a new kitchen and bathroom for this place Gotta keep the lady happy.
Maybe then I can get some larger balsa models again. I used to have some 1/4 scale stuff years ago but a divorce at the time put an end to that. Happily married to a very understanding woman for the last 15 years.
I did note the fridge (ice box) you have in there. Very important!! In fact, 2 of them. You certainly have your priorities right!!

HAHA, I just noticed the difference! I took the wing photo a while back I guess. The tan colored fridge died so we bought a new one for the house. Wife had been wanting one since we moved into the house 4 years ago. So got it and moved the house fridge to the shop.

When we bought the house she loved it and was happy for me to get the shop. Her one condition was to remodel the kitchen so we hammered out the details and got that done. Completely gutted it to the sub floor and she got exactly what she wanted, as did I. Love it when a plan comes together.

Did most of that work myself! It looked like this after the demo. At the time my Dad was a manager at an upscale building supply place, he had one of his guys design the cabinets and had them made at their cost. Couple that with doing most of the work ourselves helped out tremendously with the cost. Now way we could have done this otherwise.

Howdy once again, firemanbill....
nice project and a great looking bird. I just got a similar project done and posted up the maiden under this topic. I’ll try to get some of the build photos and specs up soon. Mine was more of a ‘they said it couldn’t be done’ response.
Love seeing these graceful flyers come to life. Hope life is well.

Got quite a bit done this weekend. Love it when it gets to a point where I can mock it up and see what it will really look like. Spent most of Saturday getting the wing saddle and rear stabilizer lever with each other. Ended up perfectly aligned. Very happy with that outcome.
