Default Update

I have found myself doing more building and flying and less online reading. I have come a long way from my 1Kw award. As soon as I get the pictures and numbers I'll post them. Here are two pictures of me at the "Indiana Warbird Campain" which are large scale planes 80" and larger. The P-38 is set up like the P-51 that got me my 1Kw only it has 2X the motors and has a 3 blade prop. the total Kw should be in the 2350 range. The Zero and the P-47 are both running on Power 160's with 20X10 props. I am running two 10cell 5000mA bundles I made myself using single cells from China. This should hold you until I have the hard numbers to post.

Mike, I did the video edit (hard to do with the black blur but I tried) and was behind the sticks of the Goblin. The vertical didn't get checked out, I was happy to be able to control it in level flight. In future flights it might taste some vertical. I've flown it 3 times now and I'm still scared of it. Brad does know how to build a plane.

Wait till next year, the big Me 262 will be done. Bigger motor/fans and and twice the fun. Hmmm, hows 3000kv sound to ya?

This is the first time I have seen this post. I recently became a member of the 1KW club!

My entry is a T-Rex 600CF helicopter. I am running a Steve Neu 1515 2.5D/F/H 1700kv motor, Castle Creations Phoenix HV85 esc, Flight Power Evo25 6S 4900mah packs, all swinging 600mm carbon fiber V-Blades. I took it out for the first time last weekend and here is my Eagle Tree data. 1763 max watts, 85.99 high amps, with a low voltage of 20.5V. This is a huge jump over my 900w T-Rex 500cf and my "little" 400w 3D Hobby Shop Extra 300 shp.

Well Glacier Girl pointed me this way as I was interested in those cool Kw badges. This is my entry and will post pics of my Watt meter after the intake on the plane finishes curing. She had a rough first flight attempt and 2 susbequent rough landings requiring an intake rebuild.

Specs:
Motor: Little Screamers New JS-1400
Fan unit: HET 6904
ESC: Turnigy 60A Plush
Battery : 2 X Loong Max 4S 25C 2250 in parallel (4500mah)
Amps : 88.7 After 5 seconds
Volts : 14.11V After 5 seconds
Watts : 1268W After 5 seconds
Exit Tailpipe Diameter : 58mm
The Math doesn't add up to wha the watt meter says as the pics were taken with my came phone and it has a delay but they were all taken as close to the same 5 second interval as possible. I can only take 5 second bursts as my ESC thermal shuts down at the 6 second mark as its being severly pushed.

Jason

Build Thread: http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31185

P.S. She has been dopplered at around 108 mph as she can only sprint for 6 seconds due to the ESC. She is gonna be recieving a 80A version of her current ESC by the end of the month.

Laine, I was waiting for Brad to answer since he built it (I just fly it & have it in my hangar now ) but since he hasn't answered....

We used a "how Fast" meter in it & it told us 96 mph. The location we were at was 3000 ft above sea level & the meter has this chart with a correction factor for altitude. So at 3000ft the correction factor was to multiply by 1.03, came out to 98.88 mph. It seemed a lot faster than that, so I"m looking at relocating the pressure tubes to make sure it was in clean air. It might have been catching some boundary layer airflow that moves slower across the surface of the fuselage. I'll have a better idea when I take it out to the sod farm next weekend. Oh and here's a really good inflight picture of it from the maiden flight before the how fast meter was installed. (we stuck the sensor tubes right through the front of the canopy)

Mike, I am running a twin with two seperate motors. One motor/esc/lipo per wing. I can only hook the wattmeter up to one motor at a time.

Can I give you a photo of one motor showing it is producing over 500W?

Liquid, do you have any extra connectors & some wire? You could make a parallel connector to feed the two battery packs into the meter & a reverse parrallel splitter to feed out of the meter to each ESC/motor. That should show the total power.

Dude that would be a lot of wire . It is my Deuces Wild. Take a look at it on Horizon site or my build thread here on WF. I have a had a twin before and it was never a problem, but I am not about to run that amount of wire

50CC Extremeflight Yak 54. I have the 50CC Extra on the radar now. The gear was a bit longer than stock and made for the electric conversion.

Ive got the KMP version of the same Yak. Awesome flyer even though Im ONLY flying at 3200 watts

Mike - did you have any issues with that long prop shaft? Thats the double Cylon isnt it? How did that work out as far as starting etc. I cant remember, but I think you still needed 2 esc's?

I think I need a signature.

Yeah, I am excited about the Extra. It is beautiful.

No problems at all. The Shaft was supported by both motors on each endbell (front and back). It isnt shown here, but a Bearing was added in the front plate to assist with the load. It was really a stellar setup. But the only problem was cost. As you mentioned, it did take two of everything. Two motors, Two HV110 ESC's and an 8S2P for each side. It was ground breaking (to a point) at the time, however more powerful single motors and higher rated ESC's came along that really made it obsolete.

Hey Brother Jeff. I am. I have some 3kW on hand. Just let me know.

My guy that cuts my graphics had some health issues and is out of pocket. I have been out of the 1kw for a while now and still owe a couple of people a set. I am going to contact Ken who does our WattFlyer vinyl for a price and hopefully will have more to send out towards the end of next week.
