Default decatalon

A couple of years ago my sister gave me a ARES Decathalon 350, with anti crash modes for beginners and such. Any way after getting it out of the box and getting everything together, when I went to fly it I turned all of this stuff off. Immediate disaster, I worked to get straight and level flight but no avail, it crashed , no harm turned on the safe modes horrible flight. Anyway after several unremarkable flights and they ended up the same, I just set on the shelf and flew other models or did other things. Today, I gave it another shot, same results wildly uncontrollable followed by the dreaded death spiral, with a resounding thud when it hit the ground nose first. It completely broke the wing off and landing gear. I started to trash it, but I decieded to repair it once more. But this time I have taken out the recevier that came with it and the safe flight control part, and after gluing back the front part of the fuse, that holds down the wing and the screw that holds down the back part of the wing and landing gear, I noticed that the right side of the wing was lower than the left wing, in other words not level by a long shot. so I leveled out the wing , as close as possible and now only wait until Monday, so I can get another prop and regular recevier, so maybe the darn thing will fly. Why wait, gotta work this weekend. Will post on how things go.

update on lack of progress today..., had every intention of going to the lhs and getting another recevier to try out my modifications on the plane. However, as usual with my first day off and it being payday I totally forgot about the darn thing and also I have a tendency to hand around the house after traveling all over the place when at work.

Well, been messing around with the decathlon, and things wern't going to well until I noticed a problem that was causing a problem. Apparently after several crashes, nose first, the part that holds down the front part of the wing had about a 1/16th of play and every time that I would toss it in the air, the wing would move just enough to cause it to do nothing but stall. So I placed a shim in the area that forms a key to hold down the front part of the wing. So will test it out when I get time.

Curious to see if you get this sorted out.

Trouble with SAFE and its 'cousins' - they can cover up poor installation / CoG etc, - so that when you switch it off - you are left with a dog that doesn't want to fly.

The moving wing you found illustrates this perfectly.

yep, well the point is now moot. I made an attempt to fly it the other day and it hit the ground nose first so hard the nose cone penetrated the ground and actually had dirt on the end of it. I was vert disgusted with everything so I took it back to the shop and stripped everything off of it. case closed. In the long run maybe I should have paid more attention to the cg and waited until the air was completely calm. But as I said case closed. On to hopefully something better.
