Default Jumped In Boots And All

Hi All

Just thought I would share my experiance with you who are interested in Elec Helis.

I have a Ark X400 kitted out stock heli with Align 430L, 11t pinion, RC Expert 40A ESC, 1800mah 12C & 2100mah 18c batt, Tower pro servos, Hitec superslim 8ch reciever, Telebee gyro. Throttle settings are 0 70 90 90 100, pitch is about 6 at the centre.

Anyway I couldnt wait any longer so I flew it. Unbelivable, I was so happy it acually flew. Only had one flight on the 1800 battery, lasted about 7-8mins. After a little trimming its so rock solid on the tail. I have no experiance with flying electric. Flew Raptor30 for about 2 years. These things are so fiddley and unstable, anyhow it flew very nice cant wait to fly forward flight. If a beginer tried to fly it straight of they would have stoved it into the ground for sure

Regards
Insem

G,day bud

Yeh its exacally the same size as the SE, its probably the biggest in the 400 class heli, I can update the tail to the long boom and bigger blades if I want, which I will do later.. this will make it more stable. Also upgrading the gyro to either GY240 or 401 will also make it more stable too. The options are endless, they all take lots of pingers

The next biggest is the Trex 600

Thanks

The trex 600's batt's are like $300 a pop and I'm a(gotta have 6 Kinda guy)plus the darn think is so big it scares me. the trex 450 just right and the batts around $90 each I can have 6 for the price of 2 trex 600 batt.

Can't wait to fly outdoors. Here in the bay area there are tons of open feilds to play in.

Where did you get your heli and how much was it I haven't bought mine yet still researching.

Nice looking heli you have there! With your setup, you should notice that it has quite a bit more power than the Raptor 30 (relatively speaking), especially with the 2100 pack. You might want to relocate the gyro down stairs, though - the flybar paddles have been known to take out gyros mounted in that location in a crash.

Hi Rush

Thanks for the post, yeh it does look good, I cant belive how much power it has even on the 1800ma batt, this thing can boogie man. So you noticed my home made gyro mounting plate, I know what you mean about the gyros getting knocked of, I put it up there cause it was getting a bit cramped in between the frames.. How do they perform down beside the receiver ? I had read so much about glitching problems on the forums that I wanted to keep all the electronics away from each other..

Thanks

I made a plate from some old carbon fiber plate I had and put it below the boom on my Trex (different frame from yours). So it's away from the Rx somewhat and works great. I also moved the tail servo to the back for balance. BTW, they don't necessarily just get knocked off - I've seen them destroyed by the paddles.

I've got a TREX-SE, my gyro fitted above boom, been told safest place is under boom, no one has reported any prob's with RX & gyro issue's. Will sort it out at weekend! Just dropped off new canopy to be sprayed. Sort of Subaru WRX "electric blue". I'm hoping he will try & match anodised alloy part's & maybe get a little creative

Sweet tried forward flight, wow these things can fly fast, got away from me pretty quick, deffinatley not a bigineers model. I havnt been flying for as while so its very slow going. Took about 6 flights to get confident and comfy with the hover, its easy.. I have just ordered the boom servo bracket and control rod because I cannot get full tail throw from the std, I think the link is too short, anyhow this should fix it.. Ill post back later and let you all now how it goes.. By the way make sure you put lubrication on the tail pitch sliding shaft. I forgot and after a couple of flights it started to stick. I used some sowing machine lube it worked great..
