The offical FAI world speed record for an electric model is only 184mph. The glider record is just under 150mph. See http://records.fai.org/models/current.asp

Anything higher than that is just an informal "record" and some of them are a bit debatable when you look at how the speed was measured, how long it was sustained for etc.

The slimer community was really ripped when the sailplane guys added 30% to their fastest times, I remember that.

Now that the jet guys are in the mix, I don't see slimers , electrics, or sailplanes as contenders any more...

The jets can go over 200 mph. I think AMA recomended limit is 250.

BTW, Dynamic slop soaring planes, no motor, have exceeded 200 mph as measured on the radar gun.

The speed of the "glider" is very remarkable.
It's not just an absolute speed dash, it's a two way average, time taken through time traps in level flight. Both directions on the same flight.
It's maximum speed was well over it's recorded speed.
I saw one record set in the late 60's by Maynard Hill, the airplane he used didn't look anything like a sailplane or normal glider. It was very streamlined, with small wings, and went very, very fast.
