Yeah, lol. Just gotta solder up an ESC for the Spit, install the servo arms and control rods for elevator and rudder and we're in business. I played around with the retracts and I just love watching them go up and down flawlessly, lol. Can't wait to get her up!

I flew yesterday and today at LBJ. Winds were not bad but air was a little turbulent. I was going to maiden my E-flite P-51B, "DING HOA" this morning but the landing gear struts are loose. Also one of the other pilots in the club and myself were flying together and both of planes crashed simultaneoulsy. It appeared to be complete signal loss. Both planes went down within 2-3 seconds of each other in the same location....bummmmmer.

I was flying a Hobby Express (formerly Hobby Lobby) Stinson 108 that went down pretty flat, wings level but impacting mostly on the front cowl. Damage is repairable but doubt I'll so anything about it very soon.

Hope to see you soon Mike...

Dick

The new Great Planes P-6E fly's beautifully.....very stable and predictable. As they say, It fly's like it's on rails." It's really joy to fly.

Default Sbd-1 dauntless 1940-1941

Mike, (and Josh - if perhaps you may return to the flock)

Photos are of the WINDRIDER SBD DAUNTLESS DIVE BOMBER purchased some 7-8 years ago. Josh and both got one in EPO foam and intended to build in pre-war colors. Mine sat under the bed all these years and I finally decided to build it. I started it almost 2 months ago I think and finally getting close to completion now.
I can't recall what motors Josh and decided to use but I ended up using it in another plane so will have to order another one pretty soon.

Mine represents the USMC 5th Section Leader's plane in Quantico, VA 1940-41.

I'm pleased your'e still subscribed and your'e welcome. Most of my attention has been directed to RC Groups over the past few years. wattflyer has always loaded slow on my computer but I still check in.
Josh (Groundrushesup) initiated the thread but has dropped off the radar and regrettably we've lost compete contact but Angler Hi is still so maybe between all of us we'll try to keep it going.

Keep yer RPM's up,

Dick

Awesome man! What kind of paint did you use?? Curious because it doesn't appear it ate through the foam, lol.

Mike,

I used rattle cans from Walmart - Rustoleum and Krylon. It's EPO foam which isn't affected.

Insignia is iron-on Monokote and Ultracote cut from patterns I made, sealed with some Krylon clear.

Turnigy SK3 3536 1200 Kv motor should arv this week with Turnigy "TRUST" 45A ESC with built in SBEC. All HXT 900 servos except retracts so far.
It'll have functioning landing flaps and dive brakes also. Not sure How they'll work out but seem to be OK on the table so far.

Been looking for a suitable scale crew but so far the reasonably priced stuff look terrible....been thinking I might make my own somehow later on.

Planning on three blade prop around 10 in.

Wish Josh was still involved - I wonder what he's done with all his stuff?

Take care stay in touch and call me when you can.

Cheers mate,

Dick

Default Tower Hobbies Ryan STA

The Ryan ST's are my all time favorite airplane This was an ARF Tower Hobbies introduced about a year or so ago maybe more. I had to have it but not in their factory color. I like the think the original Ryan factory silver and aluminum was the ultimate.

I had to remove the Tower Hobby cover and recovered it with Ultracote Chrome for the fuse and silver for the wings and tail. The cockpit is scratch built and water slide decals and patterns for the original style trim were cut from Monokote and applied to the fuselage and wheel pants.

Can't maiden it - the chrome cover apparently reflects signal and will not Range Check! Not sure what to do yet but I need to find a solution. Either recover the fuse with silver like the wings or find a way to extend the antenna outside the airframe.

Anyway I'm still very proud of how it came out and want to share the results.
