WATTFLYER.COM COMMUNITY POLICIES
WattFlyer.com (referred to as "WF") is dedicated to developing and maintaining a friendly online community, where members of all ages and backgrounds feel relaxed and comfortable. Like any community, our site has certain standards. When members join our forums, they agree to abide by these rules. To remain a part of the WF community, members must be considerate of others. Repeated violations of these guidelines set forth below may result in a member being put on moderated status or, if the violations are extreme then access may be temporarily or permanently restricted to our forums.
TOPICS OF DISCUSSION:
Cross Posting is the act of posting the same message to multiple forums and is frowned upon. Excessive crossposting is generally considered bad form because it multiplies traffic without adding any new content. In the extreme case, if all messages were crossposted to every group, then every group would look exactly the same. Cross Posting also can upset members who are trying to help or answer in one forum while a simultaneous conversation is going on in another forum. Choose the forum that best suites the topic you are posting. If you post in the incorrect forum or feel another would be better suited for your topic, ask a moderator to move the thread, or close it before beginning another.
INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE:
The use of inappropriate, offensive language or language substitutions are not permitted on WattFlyer.com. Inappropriate or offensive language includes, but is not limited to, any language or content that is sexually oriented, sexually suggestive or abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, or that contains racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material of any kind. We ask that you please be considerate to other members in the forums when posting your messages. WF is a place that is friendly to members of all ages and that parents know is safe for kids. We will not allow linking, mention or reference to any website or organization that contains any of the aforementioned objectionable content. Any posts or links made to websites containing such will be removed and a warning given.
HARASSMENT & FLAMING:
WattFlyer members are not permitted to harass or "flame" other members. Please do not post or transmit any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material of any kind, including, but not limited to, any material which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, violate the rights of others, or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national or international law. Please note that this also includes the posting of taunts on a forum solely for the purpose of demeaning that forum's topic and/or members.
COPYRIGHTED OR TRADEMARKED MATERIAL:
It is illegal to post any content that is copyrighted or trademarked, unless you hold the copyright or trademark. Any material protected by copyright may not be posted in the message boards without the expressed permission of the author or owner of the copyright on that material. This includes reproducing the full text of news stories, articles, etc. It is acceptable to provide a link to copyrighted material, to post brief excerpts, or to paraphrase other works, though we do strongly encourage you to cite the original source whenever possible.
PIRACY OR UNLAWFUL ACTIVITIES:
This community forum is a place for ideas and constructive participation, and not a place to violate any laws or to discuss illegal activities. This type of activity includes, but is not limited to, advocating or asking for information regarding software piracy or unauthorized emulators of software or hardware, sharing or distributing viruses, licenses, registration information, software keys, "cracks," or other information designed to do harm to or allow unlawful access to any computer hardware, software, networks, or any other systems. Please refrain from posting this kind of message.
POSTING ADVERTISEMENTS:
This is a forum of ideas and discussions. We do not wish to have the readers of the forums overwhelmed with advertisements but realize that posting announcements or interesting new product information is information our members want. To balance this need for information and the need to prevent spamming of ads in our forums, we will allow the following to be posted:
Only one username or account is necessary (and allowed) on this website per person, all others will be removed. If you create a second username to act as a shill or in attempt to bypass a management ban, you will be at risk of permanent removal from this site. Sharing of accounts is strictly forbidden. Each member is responsible for what is posted under their account, so it is unwise to give out account information.
A shill is defined by but not limited to the act of promoting products for vendors, products or the like, and the act of hiding behind anonymity to abuse normal membership policies and etiquette.
If you are a manufacturer, vendor, sponsored representative, retailer or the like for an r/c related company or product you must identify yourself in your signature. Any member affiliated with a company not identifying themselves as such is at risk of revocation from this website. This is identified, but not limited to a member who gains anything financially whether in cash, product, discount or the like.
SPAMMING:
Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly in one or multiple forums, is prohibited. Spamming will also be defined as posting advertisements in the general discussion forums for products for sale in the swap shop.
SELLING:
Buying & Selling on WattFlyer.com is done at your own risk. We will not be responsible for any trades that go bad or fraud and by engaging in any transaction you agree to hold WattFlyer.com harmless. If somebody defrauds you we ask you notify us so we can remove any fraudelent individuals from this site.
POSTING IMAGES:
Forum members are allowed to embed images in their messages by linking to an image that exists on another site or downloading it from their computer's harddrive. In addition to the copyright restrictions mentioned above, users should also refrain from embedding any images of a sexual or offensive nature. Any links to clearly offensive or pornographic materials will be removed immediately at the moderator's discretion.
POSTING LINKS:
Our policy on linking to other websites is pretty simple. Members may link to any other site that provides information that helps answer another member's question or is just of general interest to members of that particular forum. One of the most basic tenets of the Web is the open exchange of information, and the WattFlyer forum managers wholeheartedly support this type of exchange. Members may NOT link to sites which require registration, membership or personal information to view the content.
We won't allow people to use our site to promote other websites simply for the purpose to draw users. However, people are always welcome to link to any online resource in order to share useful information with fellow members.
SIGNATURES :: AVATARS :: USER TITLES
Avatars are available to present something you consider special to the public in every post you make. No political, social, religious, or other similar off topic signatures or avatars will be allowed. Any Avatar deemed adult in nature could result in the termination of the members account.
Links in the signature to business websites are permitted as long as they are not overtly commercial or promotional in nature. Any signature or avatar clearly offensive or pornographic in materials will be removed immediately at management's discretion. In keeping with our policy of no religious or political content, no links to political or religious websites will be allowed in public viewed signatures.
Under no circumstances may you impersonate a moderator or senior staff of this website. Web addresses may not be used as usernames. Management reserves the right to revoke or alter a users signature.
SOLICITATION:
Our members experience here at WattFlyer is very important to us. There is so much unwanted solicitation in the world today, that we do not want to contribute to it here. Soliciting our members via posts or PM's is strictly prohibited and could result in having the originating account banned. Regardless of whether the solicitation is commercial or not, we treat it with the same regard.
BANNING:
WattFlyer reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to any part of these forums. If you violate any of the rules stated in this document or any other service terms documents, a moderator will remove the offending message.
It is your responsibility to maintain a current, valid email address in the registration information so that we can contact you in the event of a policy violation. Any member who consistently and purposefully violates our policies will at the administrator's discretion, be denied access to these forums for a period of 1 to 30 days depending on the nature of the violation. Any member who refuses to comply with the policies of these forums will be banned permanently.
MANAGING USER CONTENT:
Members of these forums are solely responsible for all content that they post on our site. WF shall have the right, but not the obligation, to correct any errors or omissions in any Content, as it may determine in its sole discretion.
