Polk Hobbies DC3 / C47 anyone flown?

Hello, I'm new to this blog in an effort to help my father with a partial kit of the Polks, DC-3. It came without the center section and had no instruction book of any kind. Since he is new to electrics he has many questions before he can proceed with the model. I got him past the center section problem with a drawing I did for him. My question is, does anyone have a copy of the instruction book they would be willing to sell or loan to me to get Dad through his construction. Also, do you recommend going to brushless motors?

Hi George,
First, brushless is the only way to go..
Next, there were no instructions with it.
So, you get to do some fabbing work. I made a tray in the fuse to hold the servos and RX, and a deck up in the nose to hold batteries with velcro. There is a little dimple in the fuse where the CG is. You will need to also get creative with the tailwheel. They expected you to leave it free spinning with no directional control. Well that simply does not work.
You may also wish to put some plywood under the landing gear mounts, to give you a little more prop clearance.
I use Hyperion 30xx series motors, with Hobby King SS 70 amp controllers on 4 cells. Its STUPID overpowered, but fly's like a kitten at 30% throttle.

Thanks for the fast reply Nitro-Blast.
With all that said, do you have any recommendations as to wiring for the twin motor set-up? Maybe a diagram!? Like I said we are both new in the electric arena.

What I did was use the factory wires and made positive/negative leads making the Y split at wing center, and go inside through the wing to the nacelles. I put the speed controllers on the motor mount. I made a deans style plug so I can remove the wing.
Batteries, servos and RX in the fuse, but all the power wiring, controllers motors in wing.

I had one a while back, Okay like 6 years ago, it's now in one of my bud's hands.
I did mine up as Spooky too. And I built and installed my own Gatling guns.
They spun up via a tx switch. Little brushed motors driving self built gear drives to spin the barrels. Was pretty cool and the gearbox noise gave a whine like an electric Gatling gun.
Like said, there were no instructions, the tail wheel was a bit of a bugger, and had to build up the mains for prop clearance.
Only other thing I ran into was the rudder, must of been an off day at the factory. The covering was so tight that the rudder wouldn't turn.
Quick fix with an Xacto and re-iron of the covering.

Does not handle single-engine-out well at all. so if it spits a prop off or something... chop power.
You can't hurt the fuselage by beating it against a tree.
Weak at the wing joiners. A loop can cause them to split the wing skins.
I still have 2 fuselages, one set of tailplanes, a center section and a left wing panel.
