Was looking at my now crooked and ugly and heavy Yak (after 2 years of flying on he same airframe), and am now waiting for another Yak sale and hobby lobby.

I was considering using the new kit to trace out parts and make it in fiberglass, say 3/4 ounce cloth, and just using the fiberglass panels to make a fiberglass yak.

Has anyone done anything like this? Any thoughts or considerations? Should I try it with one ounce?

I have plenty of epoxy, all west systems, and know how to work with it. I think that it would be around the same weight as a regular yak, but alot more durable. All parts would be glued using small epoxy fillets or something similiar as I know epoxy builds up easy.

OR second option

using 1/2 ounce or lighter fiberglass cloth, I cover structural parts of the Yak (ie bottom and motor mount area, wingtips and carbon fibre spar, and tail section)

just take the new yak kit and trace and cut out 10 more out of blucore. when you tear one up build another

I'd go for the second option if I were you.
Seems like the easier and quickest alterative.
