Sanded the WBPU and sprayed a final coat of Gloss. It really looks nice...Although not at all a scale model. Mines ready to fly when this rainy weather breaks. Seems to have thrust of 1 to 1. I'll video the maiden.

Default First Phase 3 pusher build?

Here's my first jet.....
hehe, well it's an edf using get this now....just a motor and huge 6" 2 blade fan without the fan housing mounted BEHIND the plane!!
I know I know, thinking outside the box....LOL

AUW with 1300 25C 3s is less than 15oz, thrust is better than 1:1 at just over 12amp using a slow 6x4 prop to test but likely slow top speed. The maiden will have a 6x5.5 prop and an assortment of higher mah batteries. There is room to use a 7" prop if need. The motor/prop combo used has gone 75+mph on a blu core wing.
Figure to add an oz or two with some color & accessories (I'm really looking to add some landing gear to this plane but will wait 'til the maiden to see how it flies as a belly slider).

It's been fun modifying this plane, we'll see how good it responds to being a push prop jet.

Ray - it should do very well at that low a weight.

Good luck!

Hey Ray, if it can take a 6x5.5, try a apc 5.25x6.25...it should be close to the same amps...but higher pitch speed... you'll have to order one, cause non of the LHS's will have it...

Thumbs up Successfull maiden

Steve took the sticks, I launched and away she went. Very impressed with W.O.T. speed ... Looked really good in the air and fan has a nice sound ( quiet ) . Only negative was a 20c battery puffed and Steve overflew the 1st landing . But although it tumbled slightly in tall grass it was undamaged .That's where the cloth covering helped... 2nd flight we used Dennis's 40 c 2200ma 4cell and the performance was even faster and the battery came down only warm. Steve thinks it's in the 100 MPH range. For as heavy as it is it glides good but even power off it is moving fast. ..... I deffinately put the right covering on the wings ( flames) she is wings on fire. Video is up-loading..

I dopplared that at about 93 on those packs.

On the higher C packs you may have broken 100!

Get any video of that flight?

Het 2 W 20 motor ,Hoyae 64mm fan, 100 A super simple ESC, Castle 8A BEC, Common Sence R/C 800ma 2 cell BEC battery, Turnigy 2200ma 4s 40c Li-PO for the motor. Flew it 2 more times today forgot to wattmeter it But I think last time we checked, it was 57 A 650 watts I think. We flew 3 F-16s at once today. Rays pusher, a stock powered one and mine.

Get some video with the better pack. Its possible that will give you enough extra power to break 100

I forgot my camera yesterday . Steve brought 2 but hasn't processed the video yet. Rays pusher is a winner. We all say it has stock speed on $15, motor and like a 1300 ma battery. He flew it with Arts stocker EDF version and they stayed right together untill Art ran out of battery and Ray flew on for 4 more min.

Pull that inefficient Hayoe fan out, put a HET 6904 fan in it's place and with that 2W20 motor and a good 2600 to 3300 4 cell pack you should see 120 MPH easily. Your watts are a bit low but the amps are spot on so that fan is the culprit.

Ok I admit I have been known to make EDF's go fast a time or two
173 in a phase 3 F-16 (using an 85 mm shubie fan, 5000 mah 4 cell and a great big NEU motor)

Al
I answered you earlier from my phone and didn't notice that fan you are using is a 64 MM not a 70..........the 6904 is a 70 MM but fitment is still not an issue in the Ph3. (just wrap some sandpaper around a soup can and sand to fit) If you put the back edge of the fan even with the front of the servos she usually balences just about right.
I didn't read if you have a thrust tube or not.....if not definately put one in and squeeze the exhaust down to about 53 to 52 MM (With the 64 MM fan) 70 MM fan squeeze the tube down to about 58 MM
That alone would be good for around 15 more MPH or so and will also speed up the efflux

Thanks Randy I got the thrust tube and it exits at tail cone dia. which is 50mm. Was it your jet that did 173 at Vegas Fest 2 years ago??? Where have you been? Haven't seen much posting in the forums from ya lately.

yup, that fan's a bit thrusty...LOL, it's really more thrust than speed... but is pretty sweet in the air...

I finally got the video transfered over, but practically every pass, someone smarts off by saying "we should tell everyone to be quite"... Grr... LOL

Begining and end is pretty good, the touch and go landing thing at around 2:30 is really funny... I overshot the landing, and took forever to make up my mind to land in the crappy grass, or just throttle up and go around... (I ended up going around)...

You may be able to get a doppler of a section or two.. but I doubt it...

Al
Not Randy it's Cory....50 mm exit is a bit tight and that would explain the high amp draw ....
we are building a race squall now that is running a cut down shubie 90mm fan, 7 cell 5000 Mah , castle 125 and should be good for about 2k watts or so at 100 amps. The airframe is so highly modded it almost doesn't look like a squall anymore.......speed...?? ....we are guestimating around 160 and yes will still be handluanched like the monster f-16 was

FWIW you can talk during a doppler pass .....voices are on a total different wavelength spectrum
