Richard F. Pilot 100 here. I'm so glad to see our bird making such fine progress. We had a great time at SEFF. Thanks to everyone for continuing the adventure!

Thanks Richard! She is moving along well. After pilot #124 flies, she is headed north for a tour of the Midwest.

Default Press Release Works

I just received an email from pilot #125, Joe P.

Frank,
I just thought I would let you know that your press release worked. I sent it today to a tiny local paper called the Round Rock Leader. I submitted the release via a form on their web site. By the end of lunch, I had a call from a reporter.

He wanted to take a picture of me with the plane. Unfortunately, Jim just got it and I won’t get it from him for at least a day. Fortunately, I have a Squirt of my own. So he took a picture of me with my plane and he has the URL of the WAA-08 web site. I told him that I would send him some pictures of me with the actual plane when I fly it.

I have to admit that I was a bit surprised at the interest. I would bet that 10 or 12 people see that picture!

Joe
Please take advantage of the press release that is sent to you. Local papers love to print "good news" stories. Lord knows there aren't enough of them nowadays.

Jim, pilot #124 reports on his flying weather.

Good Morning from Kerrville, Texas.....

Here's an update on what's happening with the Squirt and WAA-8. Executive Summary: not much.

Yesterday's winds were SSE at 10-14 G24. They did not slack off during the day. This morning at 7:30AM the winds are SSE 11 G24. A check of the Kerrville Municipal - Louis Schreiner Field's (ERVL) ASOS at 8AM its "160 at 14."

The Kerrville flying field is about 4 miles NNE of the airport. Although it sits in a 'hollow' winds at these speeds creates some weird effects as it comes off the hills and surrounding trees. This makes safely flying a very light plane very difficult. Sunday, my friend flying his five pound + gasser under similar conditions actually had the plane floating backwards at slow speeds.

I'll keep you posted as the day progresses.

Cheers Mates!

I emailed a club in Ardmore, OK to see if I can get any volunteers in that location. The drive from McAlester, OK to Trophy Club, TX is just too far. Hopefully we'll get a volunteer from that club.

I appreciate the effort Frank, but I don't mind making the drive if you can't line something up. I assume my hand off will be to rcers but I don't find him on the pilot map.

Jim,

I'm gonna do my best. I'll let you know something of course and thanks for going above beyond for the cause.

Mike is on page 2 on the map on my screen, pilot #161 (right now).

Jim,

It looks like our site is down right now. Also, I wouldn't worry about the numbers right now, they are going to change. I skipped 151-154 to leave room for growth.

Are you talking about Mike L just north of FW?

Default Texas Pilots Are Getting Us Great Local Coverage

From Pilot #124:

Yeaaaaa!!!

I submitted the PR to our local paper yesterday afternoon. I got a call back about 6PM saying it will be run in today's paper!!!!!

Indeed!!! Page 3, of today's Kerrville Times has the article!!!

Great idea putting that PR in the kit! With a few modifications to customize it you can email it straight to your paper's editor. It makes it painless for them!!! No work other than to decided to run it and polish it up!!!

USE IT!!!!!

Jim

PS: Still windy!!! SSE 12 G24 around 7:30AM today.
