Default Precision Aerobatics Katana Maiden

Hi all
Just maidened my Katana today (see photo). I was flying it with a total weight of 32Oz and it handled pretty well. Have a 2500 Lipo and 600Mah reciever battery wich makes it a bit on the heavy side. It will prophang fine, do hariers fine, struggle a bit with knifedge it keeps falling away. Is that because of the weight??. The CG is in the Centre. Flat spins is also not to flat. Could that also be because of the weight. Parachutes is fine and Walls also good. Do you recommend I go for a lighter battery. What would the ideal weight be for extreme 3D. Flat turns also good.

26-27oz. is ideal. I'm wondering what motor you have to, and also, you don't need a receiver battery with most electrics. For a battery, get a Polyquest 20C 1500 or 1800mAh battery. I fly both, and both put out plenty of power and are uber light. The Katana is very sensitive to weight, just the half ounce difference between these two batteries is noticable in the air.

Yeah, I'm with Ryguy on the flight battery need...

Unless you go to bigger models pushing 4 cells and more you are going to be fine running 4 servos on that BEC. Ditch that pack for the weight.

Knife edge is essential to have the balance way back... waaaay back. Push it baby.. at the back edge of the envelope. The further back, the flatter the flat spins (to a point) also.

I have a Hyperion 3007-30 motor and a Hyperion 50OPTO Speed Controller. Will get a E-Flight 40 AMP with BEC so that I can ditch the reciever battery and get a 1800 Mah Lipo. Will test it and show some more detailed photos of the flight.

Thanks for the replies!!!

I love my Katana. I just had the thing hovering low and close enough I was punching it with the TX antanna. I could have reached out and grabbed it if I wanted to. This thing hovers like a foamy once you get it locked in.
