Question just double checking

so to use a lipo in my radio im going to be soldering the 18 gauge wires on the jst plug to 14 gauge wires on the lipo. is that correct ? thank you.

KIA if you have room in the transmitter for the wires you could do that.

Be very careful and only strip and work on 1 wire at a time. If the lipo leads touch each other they could weld themselves together.
My dad did that with a small nicad.

Why not make an adaptor ?

If there's room for it .. you could create a short JST to battery plug connector - this way you always have option to change battery easily.

Personally I don't like LiPo's in TX's and only use 'tired ex flight' LiPo's if necessary. But I'm lucky that my radios accept the balance plug for connection.

My preferred option now - is to use 18650 LiIon cells in a holder with respective plug .....

Out of interest ---- What Tx Radio ? Maybe there's already a purpose designed battery for it or ???
