Talking Man, the wifey is going to kill me!!!!!

Well hopefully she doesn't see it arrive, and I can just tell her it's my GWS version with different paint on it.

Only fair as she's getting new carpeting and all the hardwood floors redone. Right?

Anyhow, I've been looking for a bigger Me-262, and other then a 100" version, that's even beyond my means, I've had no luck..........that is until today. I stumbled on this.

http://shop.turbofanelectrics.com/pr...9&productId=33

It's a HET version, never even knew they had one. I had their F-20 Tigershark and it was a beauty.

WAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I went all out, bought the bird, both fan kits, retracts, and all the servos. SAAAAWEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!

All free shipping, yeah right. I'll just tell the wifey that if she sees it show up.

Boy I can't wait for it to arrive. Already have a paint skeem picked out for it. There will never be another in this set of colors.

Let's just say a bunch of pennies. Yeah, yeah, that's it pennies.

For an ARF, A = A really long time and building to get her airborne.
WWW.warbirdsrc.com look in the research link for Carl's build just to assemble and install the landing gear in it. I'll be adding custom paint, so I'll be even longer.

This one will have to wait till we get settled in our new home in Florida. Now you know what it actually is going to cost me to build this one.

Well consider me in deep doo doo.

Friday night I was informed I had to get the Bat Cave cleaned up for the sale of the house. Above and beyond normal cleaning Wifey wanted the floor repainted.

Which of course ment that EVERYTHING had to be hauled out of the garage. Looked like a warbird meet in my front yard. People were slowing down as they drove by, I guess they thought it was a yard sale.

Well Wifey I think took count of the fleet, and was none too happy. Might have been the stack of un built planes in boxes, that really got her attention.

Then the mail man showed up. With a big box. (Me 262)

Then Fed Ex showed with another really big box. (Ice maker I bought for club fly in)

My only luck of the day was UPS didn't show with the new 10 x 20'
party canopy (with optional sides w/ windows & screens)

Boy I hope I make it home tonight before she does.

Honestly I've used up those excuses. I'm now subject to the rolling of the eyes when something new shows up.

And if you need it, and I came up with this one on the fly last year, when asked why the planes I built for my club buds were still in my shop.

"Well they need some adjusting done on them, so I told (insert name here) I would take care of doing the adjustments and then fly them to be sure they were ok."

So far so good on that.

Glacier
I hope you have better success than others with this one
I have read about alot of these not fairing to well and some even suffering damage in the box
I kind of held off on this one because of what I have seen
I wish you luck and hope you get her airborne
I would love to see one fly

Well so far so good. I was going to wait till I got settled in Florida, but couldn't wait.

All looks good construction wise. Covering was nice and tight. Fuselage looked pretty good too. Only thing I didn't like was the seam on it. I sanded it down and put a coat of resin over it. Will sand it out so it's nice and smooth. Then lay down a nice straight seam.

Everything was double boxed and packed well, all the extra goodies were even stashed in there.

Build manual is pretty typical, missing stuff, and parts of it showing and refering to a completly different bird. I down loaded Carl's build at Warbirdsrc.com, as he does a much better layout of how it should be, fixes the errors, and he installed air retracts.

I put the EDF's together, went like clock work. HET goes as far as balancing the fans for you, so it's just a matter of bolting it all up. Also fit/ clearance of fans to ducts was perfect. No sanding blades for clearance.

Must say I couldn't resist firing up them up. Papers flew, dogs went running, and big smile appeared,........and that was only on 3 cells.

And that's as far as I've gotten. Garage is right now completly filled with furniture from inside the house.

Remember the costs in your hobby? Well add paying to have all the hardwood floors refinished to mine.

I'm, along with the retracts, looking at maybe going with a torque tube or a direct drive for the ailerons. Rather then having control horns and linkages hanging out of the wings.

I'll add to this and post some pic's, as soon as I can find the build bench again.
