Default Chad Veich 1/8 scale F6F Hellcat - Electric?

I am about to start building this popular kit, with laser wood from Manzano, and plans from Chad. His plans assume gas/nitro power, but like all my planes I will convert to electric power. Hopefully someone has done this and I need tips and advice, or better yet a electric build thread. Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks, Bill

I've done several nitro -> electric conversions. Sig Mid Star 40 (converted to twin electrics), Demi Duster, RCM Trainer, and my latest, the Avenger (I did a full build thread in this forum.)

Usually, you can find a spot for your electrics (ESC and battery) without too much issue. What I have found is that battery placement, especially with the larger models and packs, is critical to keep the proper CG. A large lipo battery may physically fit into an area where a fuel tank would normally go, but it's going to weigh a lot more than a full tank of fuel, and often times, your plane will be extremely nose heavy, or worse yet, extremely tail heavy. My best advice would be to build your wing and tail feathers. When you build the fuselage, allow an area MUCH longer than you think you'll need for fore/aft placement of the battery. That way you can move it around to find the proper CG and just mark where it belongs.
