John, I hope you don't land your TREX like the one in your avatar.

Jim
That poor little bird has seen a few less than perfect landings. Fortunatley it's easy to get it back on its feet.

By the way, John, I love Durango. I spent 2 summers at a boys camp on Lake Valecito back in the 50's and that started a love affair with Colorado.

I lived in Georgetown for about 3 years about 30 years ago. I was back there recently and it hasn't changed much.

A fellow police dispatcher I worked with (she has since retired) loves Durango as well. In fact, she loves the area so much, she got personalized license plates that read AGTON. Everyone would ask what Agton meant.....she asked me what I thought it was, and without batting an eye, I said "Silverton". She smiled big and was very impressed.....(she always looked at me more like a mom than a co-worker....LOL)

I live in Tacoma, Washington. Looking for a place to fly, I'm just getting into park flyers.

Anyone around Tacoma or Federal Way?

Probably the nearest one is the Seattle RAMS field in Sumner.

http://www.seattlerams.com is the website and a lot of information on the club. We always welcome new members. We provide training, and have a great group of modelers to learn from.

Yes, the RAMS club is quite near you and there's also one further south that is a nice club as well. MRRCS
http://www.mrrcs.org/

I've decided to join MRRCS even though they are quite a drive for me up here in Renton, but they are the only ones sporting a paved RWY other than the one across the sound in Kitsap Co.
Im just tired of the problems of flying in parks and such with little or no place to land and take off, and then there is the uncontrollable environments with park goers, soccer teams, kids, dogs, ect.
I've had too many close calls with people wandering into my flightpath when landing, soccer players taking to the field without warning, stray soccer balls whizzing by if they are playing on an adjacent field, and you name it.
I flew with them down there this past weekend, and loved it and the guys were very freindly and quite welcoming. Hehe, my smaller electrics didnt know what to do with all that airspace, but it was a nice breath of fresh air having all that space.

I should have mentioned that, as an aging student I have little money. As nice as it would be to fly at either of those fields, and both look quite impressive, I was hoping for maybe a local park that is friendly to foamies.

At least for a while, I'll only be flying small, slow, and very light flyers.

Thank you,
Steve

Get in touch with uhhhh, Yossarian here at wattflyer. He lives down there where you are and knows of some good spots, he turned me on to a nice bunch of soccer fields all together in one BIG field. I forget the road it's on but I can look it up later after I get home from work.

East Islip, NY (Long Island). I need more places to fly! School fields are now being used by their sports teams again to gear up for the new school year and the only time is real early morning. It would be nice to find a place to fly where I can fly anytime of day.

Are there any electric flight clubs in suffolk county?

Thanks, I just sent him a message.

If you recall the name of the road, by all means, please send it!

Thanks,

Boerne, Texas, pronounced Berr-knee. I fly at a private park next to my house. Haven't really ventured into the local RC community too much; there is a local club but their website seems to say "We fly large ICE planes ptooie!"

Anyone in range, let me know and we'll put the beers on ice.

It's interesting having a flying field near a police shooting range. Our field is separated from a County Sheriff facility by an active landfill, and we get sonme interesting sound effects sometimes. I've heard pistols, rifles, shotguns, full automatic, and last Sunday, shortly before we started our annual club demo, what sounded like small cannon.
